Feeling low on options here!

Hi guys! So I graduated nursing school back in May, took boards like June, then took a vacation till mid August. I'm home now and trying to find a job but every hospital in my city requires you to go through their GN programs. Just to be clear I would LOVE to go through one of these programs, I feel like I could learn so much and get some more self confidence in my skills which I really need. However I have not been accepted to any.....

My resume is not impressive, I have only worked retail. No medical exprience outside of school. I have been able to get a call back from quite a few home health agencies though. They are willing to teach me as a GN. However everyone I talk to says HH as GN is a horrible idea. They might all be right but I really don't know what to do at this point. I need something to help me get my foot in the door and this is looking like my only option. I really don't wanna sit on my butt for potentially months waiting for a hospital program to call, if they call at all.

All that being said does anyone have any tips/thoughts/suggestions/advice? ? I would tally appreciate it

new grads should be applying for jobs. BEFORE they even graduate. So it appears you missed the GN window of application dates. I would download the indeed.com app and scan it daily. Def don't do home health as a new grad. Try clinic.

You may have to wait until January to get into a program. Hospitals tend to do two intakes of new grads to coincide with the most common graduating times, May/June and December.

I don't know. I would consider the home health or start looking up to an hour away. In my area, the longer you wait the less likely to get a call back. Or even consider nursing home but that environment is tough.
