Dropped out of CRNA school; back to ICU

Title says it all. There'll be lots of explanation due, since I'm going back to my old unit. I'm not ashamed at all. Haven't worked at the bedside in 16 months.
One thing I have to say, after the totally horrible way SRNAs are treated, it'll feel like being at a party. My skin wasn't thick enough, but it's lots thicker than it was before.
I've been in limbo so long, it's sometimes hard to remember I'm a nurse.....

Sorry to hear how bad you were treated. Good luck going back to bedside and getting into the "swing of things". Have a wonderful and hopefully stress free holiday season:p

I am sorry to hear you dropped out of CRNA school. If it is not too personal where did you attend? My son graduate 2004 from UT Chattanooga. They had 20 people in the entire class. OR RN's have to have thick skin too. Many strong personalities. You will do fine once you get back into the routine. I took 12 months off and did not have any difficulties returning and picking up where I left off.

I know how you feel! I dropped out after 12 months. Not because of grades...I was in the top 5 percent but because I disliked about 95% of the CRNA's I had to associate with during clinicals at multiple hospitals. I found them to be abusive, arrogant, and very antisocial to students, co-workers, as well as clients. They were not, and are not, what I desired to become & needed to become in order to succeed in such a toxic environment.

I don't regret dropping out...it was a decision I made after a lot of introspection, self-analysis, thoughts about the future, etc. I haven't missed the stress, people, or any other myriad of factors associated with the position. If I have one regret, it's the fact that I owe money for something I didn't complete.

However, knowing myself, if I hadn't tried it then I would still be wanting to do it...making myself, my spouse, and my children miserable until I gave it a shot

I would recommend, however, that you take your university hours and transfer into a MSN program somewhere just to make the best use of your time and efforts to further your future as well as enhance your options.. I did just that and completed a dual MSN degree.

If you're like me, you're sick and exhausted of going to school...take a few months off and get back in the educational swing before you've lost interest and fallen off for good!

Well, don't forget... the very fact that you were even able to get in to CRNA school says a lot about your education, experience, and smarts.

And remember, you DON'T OWE an explanation to anybody. Share what you choose to and keep the rest to yourself.
