Cough Assist oops!

So, I somehow setup and used a cough assist without the filter. Feeling like an idiot. Not like I hadn't used the machine before, but the filter was in a drawer and I was use to having it already attached to the machine... would have thought I'd realize it when it was sort of difficult to plug into the machine. Thinking, did I do this on another occasion before too?

Please tell me I'm not the worst nurse ever.

I doubt anyone would say that ^_^. We all make mistakes. You will never do that again and I imagine no harm came to the patient. Just breathe and carry on.

Nope you aren't the worst nurse ever. You learned from that mistake and wont do it again.

Mistakes happen. However, make sure that machine is thoroughly cleaned which may mean a biomed trip to be taken apart and decontaminated. Had this been in a place where the machine is used on multiple patients, it could have been much more serious for cross contamination. Our machines, including all ventilators, are routinely swabbed for evidence of cross contamination even with the filter in use at all times.
