Hello guys,

I am recently locating from Texas to Arizona in about three weeks. I have found a job in Arizona which starts in three weeks, and I just want to make sure that I am doing this right because I don't want to become in trouble with Arizona board of nursing. Is it true that I can work in Arizona with my Texas license for 90 days while I am doing my application to get an Arizona nursing license? Or do I have to deny my new job in Arizona and as soon as I move to my new residency in Arizona get a temporary license while they process my new license in Arizona? Please help me! I am freaking out about what to do. I have contacted Arizona board of nursing three months ago and I believe they said I have 90 days but I am just not positive. I will contact them again but currently I am working my full time job and I am constantly traveling back and forth to Arizona for personal reasons. So please if you can all just help me get an idea I'll greatly appreciate your help. Thanks.

I think that vital questions should be addressed at the source, rather than opinions on the Internet. Your question is certainly vitally important to you. Go back to the BON. They answered you once - they can answer you again. Write their answer down.

As Texas and Arizona are both compact states, when you move to Arizona you can begin work on your Texas license. You can do so for either 30 or 90 days, depending upon which state you move to.

If you were told by the Arizona Board of Nursing that you had 90 days, what is your concern?

ETA: From the Arizona State Board of Nursing, Rules of the State Board of Nursing, Section R4-19-311. Nurse Licensure Compact, paragraph paragraph 2.f, on page 31

A nurse changing primary state of residence, from one party state to another party state, may continue to practice under the former home state license and multi-state licensure privilege during the processing of the nurse's licensure application in the new home state for a period not to exceed ninety (90) days. (Statutory basis: Articles 4B, 4C, and 4D[1])
