My new director wants all the nurses to take this exam. I have never heard of it. Can ya'll enlighten me?

BKAT = Basic Knowledge Assessment Tool

CAT = Competence Assessment Tool

BKAT is a written test that asks questions pertaining to nursing interventions, designed to determine level of nursing knowledge. Different tests for different specialties, such as peds, adult, etc.

CAT is a plan for orientation in which accomplishments are documented as nurses become proficient in various skills. Helps managers with goal setting and weakness identification.
