Appropriate gift for co-workers when leaving job?

A week from Wednesday will be my last day at the first job I have had as an RN. I work on a med surg floor since April of 2013. I love my co-workers and my manager is fantastic, but an opportunity arose on a cardiac stepdown floor at a hospital significantly closer to home. I am a guy - and I guess by nature I'm not the most creative gift giver. I'd like to make a gesture showing my appreciation for all the help they've given me, whether that be ordering them food or something more thoughtful. I'd be open to any suggestions. thanks.

Very nice thought! I've always brought a gift when leaving a job. Last one was easy -- the coffee maker was old and pretty gross so I replaced it with a new one. It only cost me $30 and my co-workers were really surprised that I left them something useful and badly needed. They loved it.

Edibles go quickly but a useful item will always remind them of the thoughtful person you are.

I can empathize edwin on this. I am leaving this Friday also to specialty, but the only thing I will miss is my night crew and my manager. I wish I can take them with me. I kind of wanted to ask the same thing, so appreciate all for the inputs.

the pen idea is really great, and also the unit seems to always lose extra rulers and scissors! Maybe I can get them some. I plan to give the whole day and night crew some truffles. I know a Belgian truffle shop that sells 100 truffles for just $30 bucks!! But basic school supplies..... I should add that to my gift inventory. I know people usually don't go back to visit their workplace, but I know I will waltz along there on my days off sometime with slices of pizza for my crew... gosh I love them.

These are great ideas! I'm starting the nursing program and am leaving my medical assisting job of two years. I had no clue what to gift my coworkers, I thought candles, mugs, notepads, nothing worked . But cupcakes and coffee are great ideas. Thanks everyone!
