HI!

I am a nursery nurse and I was wondering--of any of you all that have left the traditional bedside setting, what do you do now? I would appreciate if any of those who really love their jobs now would share. Thanks.

THERE ARE A LOT OF OPTIONS OUT THERE FOR THOSE OF US LOOKING FOR A CHANGE.

Nursing Informatics is one alternative to a traditional nursing career. In this specialty you combine your nursing/clinical background with information systems and computer science. If you are a good change management person, organized, appreciate the use of technology to improve patient care and nursing practice, have an interdiciplinary focus and enjoy multiple challenges then this is the career for you!.

If you have any more questions let me know.

I had a successful 13 year career in pediatric cardiology, NICU flight nursing, ECMO specialist. Long story short, I became desperate to be home with my 2 babies after they were born, but financially, there was NO WAY that I could quit my job...I have been blessed to find a wonderful company. In a little over a year, I have matched my 13 year career nurses salary, and am looking forward to the years to come. I am now a full time mommy, and still a significant income earner for my family!!

Please feel free to contact me, anytime. Kathy

I left bedside nursing 8 years ago.....have been working as Performance Improvement Coordinator and then 1 year ago, I became Director of Risk Management/PI. I have a PI Coordinator (a bedside nurse that came from ICU) that works with me. I love it....every day is a new challenge. Contact me if you want to know more.

I left floor nursing 3 years ago due to a bad back, and went into the field of Compliance. Because of the government's increased focus on healthcare, it's a hot area. There are a lot of opportunities for nurses, with the potential to make a lot of money.

for those of us nurses who don't need excitement in our lives, preadmission testing is the way to go! No codes, no bedpans, no med passing!!!:)
