agony in attempts to unionize...

  1. I would like to hear from other nurses who have had experience in trying to unionize at their hospital. I have been involved in an organizing attempt for the last two years, and its' been brutal to say the least. Fear seems to be a common feeling among fellow nurses who want to be involved. Mangement works very hard in making nurses feel that they do not have any right to act collectively. Any insights?

Thank you, I am familiar with that web site. I would encourage you to look at

The campaign we are part of is not a card check, it is a corporate campaign. That is why the Employee Free Choice Act is important.
Has anyone else been through this process? How is working at a unionized hospital different? Better?

I prefer working at a union hospital and it took 2 years to organize and get to bargaining over a contract. It was at times distressing but well worth it in the end.
