ARRRRRGGGHHH...Our SANE program just closed today

damnit!!! We fought hard to keep it open but our billing department at our hospital screwed us again so we never got reimbursed for any exams, FOR THE LAST YEAR!!! This is just making us sick. After September no more SANE program.

I am a new SANE, and I want this to continue. I think we provided such an awsome resource to the community. I would like to see about getting the SANE nurses together to start our own program and found some resources on the internet about starting one. I just really needed to vent

That's so irresponsible.

Instead of axing the SANE program, they should be doing cleanup in the billing department.

I am so sorry. Hope you can be successful in getting something started, twinmommy+1. Good luck.

Angry Re: ARRRRRGGGHHH...Our SANE program just closed today
I agree with sirI:
That is very irresponsible!!!! And it is very degrading to anyone who needs a SANE. Can you just imagine if you were someone who was just sexually assaulted or raped!! It's like saying to those patients 'who cares about you'. It makes me nauseous!! Every community needs SANE/SART - it doesn't matter how small the community!!!

I apologize for the anger!!

No, don't apologise for the anger as we all are angery who were working with this SANE project. It makes me sick to my stomach to think that a rape victim will come in, and a very well intentioned nurse will not be able to answer questions or know about resources, or even how to do a speculum exam.

Alright I'm getting mad all over again and have to stop.

Have you considered contacting your local news station or even a local newspaper and going to them with a story. I'm sure the public would be interested in hearing about a hospital who doesn't hold it's communities best interest at heart.

I would go so fast it would make their heads spin. They don't have to know where the story came from. And maybe they could cover other hospitals in the same area who do or do not provide the service.

Can you give me an update on your SANE situation. We will be sending a couple of nurses to SANE training for our hospital. I'm concerned we may have some people not as excited about this program as others. I want to be able to avoid any problems that others have had with their programs. Thanks

I am so sorry to hear about this situation in your community. I'm an LPN wishing to become a SANE but don't know if I need to be an RN to qualify. I'd like to see one here in my community in Michigan.
Here's to wishing you well in your very important, and much needed, endeavor!

Hello everyone,
My name is Diana and I am a senior nursing student in Philadelphia. I see that some of you are familiar with forensic nursing. I am doing a seminar on this topic for my community nursing class and am required to do an interview. I was wondering if anyone was willing to help me? I have been searching everywhere for nurses familiar with forensics but have been unable to secure an interview. I have my questions ready and can message them to anyone that is willing to help. I would greatly appreciate anything you guys can do for me.

Thanks,
Diana
