How funny... I just googled "University of Miami Accelerated Nursing Program" and this popped up! :typing

Anyway, just to introduce myself: I am currently a 21 year-old Health Education and Behavior major at the University of Florida -- I'll actually be receiving my diploma 18 days before classes start! in addition to being a Gator, as of March 15, 2009 at 7:00pm, I am officially a Hurricane!

Like everyone else, I am really excited for the great opportunity and experiences we'll be witnessing during the Accelerated BSN program!! Can't wait to meet you all :wink2:

Gator2Cane,

I applied to both the University of Florida and the University of Miami. I have my first official communication from U of Fl: they have said no!! I am not sure about U of Miami. Maybe I am overqualified? I have 2 masters. I wonder why the Gators said no. Will talk with them tomorrow.

Hey UMAshtangi - I just got fingerprinted on Friday so I'm sending my papers in today. I hope I didn't wait too long to do it. I sent in my immunizations but I need to get my 3rd HepB in April. I also need to get the drug test done, hopefully tomorrow if they are still open once I get off work!

Skywalker and Gator2Cane send me a personal message or post your email address on my profile page so I can send you guys an invitation to our ABSN pool party!

I just spoke with the Admissions. The international admissions (that is the group that handled my application even though I live in the U.S.) looked through my application and realized that it was complete and told me they were now going to forward my name to the admissions to alert them about this! It seems that if I had not done so it would have been sitting like that for I don't know how long...

Phew! Good thing you did that! I think because its not exactly an "undergrad" but isnt a graduate degree either our files seem to go all over the school. Keep us posted!

I found a studio apartment on the school's off campus housing website. They have some good stuff on there...if you want to check it out. Good luck apartment hunting.

Specializes in Neurology, Neurosurgery.

We also found our studio through the website.

Hi guys..My name is Roberta i am in the May 2009 BSN program..I have my degree in Economics and Finance from Rutgers...I worked with GE/WMC mortgages for the last three years and recently got laid off:)...I am making the move from Boston on May 9th..I just landed a nice little cottage in Coral Gable...i am really excited to start and to meet all of you...

Hi JesLeigh..After the sonhs register us on April 13th..then the financial aid dept would determine how much loan were are eligible for...in the summer it is a max of approx $6000...then in the fall we are going to get both subsidize and unsubsidize loan...i am hoping it is going to be at lease $12K for the fall and $12k for the spring...since technically our max stafford loan value is approx. $35K for a normal 4year degree...I know it is really frustrating..I have no idea how i am going to pay my tution:)...And for the scholarship...you can apply but the fact is...they are only sending out denial letters...But just wait till Mid April..and see what aid you receive...because right now our hands are tied..See you in class:)

Thanks Roberta. Glad to hear I'm not the only one worried about this stuff. I did apply for the scholarship and recieved an e-mail that they are not awarding any more of them. So, no one should waste there time applying for it. It was kinda frustrating b/c no info on deadlines were given out. It seems like no info on anything is really communicated. O well...I'm still excited for the program. Good luck and see you there!

Hi all! Congrats on everyone's admission to the program. I just recieved my acceptance letter this past Wednesday:) Thank goodness!!! I am so excited, but very nervous as well. A bit about myself....I grew up in Florida...living on the water, diving, fishing, boating, beaches etc, I absolutely love it. I feel very grateful to be able to stay here to continue school. For a minute, I was nervous that I wasn't going to get into a FL school. I received my BS in Marketing from FSU in 2003 and did the whole "Corporate America" bit, song, and dance. Guess you can say my heart and passions just weren't there...lol. I left my career in late 07' to pursue a field where I can make a difference in the lives of others ( I know it sounds cliche') and springboard into various opportunity. I've always been drawn to the healthcare field, and decided it was time to make the change, take a risk, and go for what I wanted. I'm really looking forward to meeting everyone and making the move to Miami. Finding a place and/or a roomate is my next agenda. Congrats again! and looking forward to the new journey with everyone!:)

Hey linzilou, welcome to THE U!! CONGRATS on your acceptance!! :yeah:
