UNF Accelerated BSN Summer 2013

U.S.A. Florida

The deadline to apply for UNF's Accelerated BSN program beginning Spring 2013 will be here before we know it (January 15, 2013), which is why I wanted to go ahead and start this topic now. Many of us are taking the TEAS V soon (if we have not already) and finishing up prerequisites (if needed), so I am sure we all have some questions or information to share with each other.

Hey everyone! I got into the accelerated program and am still sitting here in shock!! Can't wait to meet all of you in May.To those who were rejected, please do not give up! I have been rejected from schools for the past 2 years, and I just kept on applying. My hard work has finally paid off!

Congrats to all who got in!! I got in to the regular track (hoping for accelerated). Still very excited to be considered for it, seeing the stats of those denied. I certainly did not have a 4.0 GPA and my TEAS score was not impressive. I guess the interview is extremely, extremely important!! I was also accepted to JU's accelerated program and very confused as to which program I will choose!! Has anyone been accepted to JU also? Would love to hear if anyone has insight into pros and cons of both programs!! Again congrats to everyone who got in and to those waitlisted, good luck! If I choose JU my spot may be up for grabs!!

Julie - Congrats on getting in!!! What program will you be in? What interview group were you in? There was a woman in my group (11:30, group 2) who had 5 kids... wondering if it was you.

To answer your question, no I don't think I will take the spot in the RPN program if I'm called up from the waitlist. I know I can get into the program at SJRSC, which would be free with a Workforce scholarship and I would finish at about the same time. I have a friend who already had her BA and graduated from the program at SJRSC and was able to get her BSN by just taking a few classes online and her new employer (hospital) paid for it... so that's my plan B.

NoSleep - I know you just made some people on the wait list happy :). I applied for the regular program as I don't have a prior 4 year degree [even though I nearly have enough credits :geek:].

And that is funny about the lady with 5 kids, but nope that wasn't me. I was at 9.30 group 4. I wouldn't be surprised if everyone in my group got in b/c they all did well. We even had a really sweet Korean lady who was very soft spoken, but her answers seemed spot on.

I discovered too that you get more WorkSource dollars by doing your ADN first. I have a friend doing it that way. She is at FSCJ and plans to immediately go into the bridge program at UNF when she is done in about a year. And she is very satisfied with her choice.

Everyone in my group was dressed conservatively. One girl had a skirt that looked short when she sat, but not standing. Since we were at a table I don't think that would have figured in. I had thought of dressing business semi-casual, but I was VERY happy that I stepped it up to a navy blue pantsuit with a plain white button down shirt. Almost all of the folks I saw waiting at 9.30 were in business suits and looking good.

Why thank you very much! I kind of knew this already but I just needed to make sure. How do you find out where you are on the Waitlist, is that even possible?

I was in the 9:30 group 8 interview and saw a few people not even wearing business attire, but for the most part, everyone was really sharp. :-) Some of the girls clothes were not tasteful, but they still looked very nice.

Hi jct2488, i also got into JU's accelerated program and am sitting here debating on flipping a coin or not! Both great programs!

My sister goes tho JU and says she loves it there! :-) I also have a friend who went for her BSN there and she speaks very highly of JU.I wish I had applied there too.

I am a student at UNF now, majoring in Chemistry and have heard from a lot of the Nursing Students that it is a great program. But that goes for both places.... They both have awesome program. Goodluck in your decision. :-) and Congratulations!

Wait listed!

I must have really messed up the interview because I have a 4.0 GPA and I think my teas score was like a 375 (I scored in the 98th percentile nationally). I feel like I'm a pretty self aware person and although I wouldn't say that I blew the interview out of the water, that I felt it went well. I also was not one of the inappropriately dressed people (of which I saw many).

My question is, is there any way to find out where on the wait list you are? And when do you think people will start to hear off of the wait list? I know they mentioned that they will give the initial acceptances something like 11 days to respond.

Congrats to all those accepted :)

Hi makay7 I was accepted into the accelerated program... still in shock, I think! How about you?[/quote']

I got accepted in to the accelerated program as well! My husband looked this morning and called to tell me to check my status... so that's how I found out. I admit I refreshed it a couple of times to see if it still said accelerated nursing and I wasn't crazy lol.

This is crazy to me!! Wonder what the heck they are looking for?! Sorry :( that stinks. And I am pretty sure I read they don't reveal wait list rank.

This blog is extremely helpful- thank you! So I am looking at the application status and it says- Admit and then under the Students tab- Academic Profile it says what program you got accepted to? Is this definitely right because I haven't received my letter in the mail yet but I live down in south florida area and am still in shock that I got accepted!
