UF's Generic BSN Program Fall 2012

U.S.A. Florida

Published

Hi Guys! I haven't seen any threads for this coming fall semester for UF, so i decided to start one.

I'll start by saying my name is Naomi & I have applied for entry into the GENERIC Fall 2012 BSN program. I'm a Jacksonville, FL native and I am praying for this acceptance so I can get started with nursing school, finish, and start my career. I am super excited because I love Gainesville and UF. I think it is a terrific school, as I have a few friends who attend there. When I applied I had a 3.31 overall GPA, and I'm not quite sure how to calculate my science GPA, (if anyone can help me with that, I'll definitely appreciate it!) but I feel I wrote a great essay, so hopefully along with that and my prayers, I will get accepted. I am already claiming it!

Well, I wish you guys who applied the best of luck and I hope to see you all this coming fall semester. =)

I guess this can be a means of communication for those out there with any questions or comments regarding the application/review process, or anything else you're curious to know.

Good luck!

- Naomi

I'm a current UF student. I know that most of the spots are reserved for current students, so congrats on getting in!

Thank you! Congratulations to you, too!

Congrats to everyone who got in :) I plan on applying to start fall of 2013 & am wondering if anyone who got accepted is willing to share their GPA and previous experiences so I kind of get an idea of what exactly they're looking for. Thanks in advance and again, congrats!

Hey jessrei22! I had a 4.0 cumulative GPA. As far as experience, I had to work to support myself so I was not able to volunteer enough to even mention it in my application. I think that UF understands that sometimes people need to work and can't really volunteer. Although I would recommend, through work or volunteering, to put yourself in an environment that promotes the core skills and values that you believe the nursing school will want you to have. I think that's what their looking for. Lastly, if you do end up volunteering or are currently, I was told in my meeting with the advisor that it is more important to be in a position to learn about healthcare (and the core skills and values) than it is to be pushing papers and answering phones in the office. Those types of office volunteering jobs aren't really appreciated because they don't provide you with much. I think that is all the insight I have about the application! Good luck next Fall! Go Gators!

Oh, and I was a transfer!

they're looking for*

Specializes in Pediatric Cardiac ICU.

I know this is an old post, but I have a question. Were you a transfer student from another university or a community college?

I know this is a really late response, but could you still answer questions about UF's nursing program?
