UF Accelerated BSN Fall 2012

U.S.A. Florida

Published

HI:)

I am an undergraduate student at UCF right now and will soon be graduating with my degree in Psychology. I am applying to UF's accelerated BSN program for Fall 2012.

My first year of college was brutal! My first semester I made 4 Cs and 1 D. My second semester I made 2 Cs and 3 Fs. I had to retake the 3 classes I failed over the summer and I made 3 Cs. So... it has completely ruined my GPA. It seems like no matter how many As I make it barely brings it up.

But, thankfully UF only considers your most RECENT 60 credit hours towards your GPA. This is so great because my overall GPA is only a 2.6, but by the time I'm done taking classes my most recent 60 credit hours GPA will be around a 3.7-3.8.

Is anyone else suffering from a year of bad grades like me?

I wish every other school only considered your most recent 60 credit hours. UF seems like my only real hope to be accepted, but at the same time it's UF... not the easiest school to get into.

Thanks samiam! Yeah you're right about the false hope. I did the petition but I'm not really worried about it anymore, I was accepted somewhere else so I'll most likely just be going there.

Since you decided not to petition, what are you doing instead? Are you attending another school.

BTW I saw you said you hope I get a good call, so that means they'll notify me by phone? I was wondering if it would be phone or email.

Congrats to all UF acceptances! Did anyone on this board apply to UCF too and decline your spot? I am wait list and trying to stay positive and have a peace-of-mind with this waiting game. :saint:

I don't mean to make you feel like you shouldn't have petitioned! UF was just a long shot for me....and I don't have high hopes if I did petition. But I really do wish you the best of luck! I didn't get into any programs for the summer that I applied to, but I have reapplied for the fall terms at numerous schools....My grades and test scores are competitive, but I know they are at the lower end of the spectrum for most schools. I really want this, so if it takes me an extra semester to get in then so be it.

I called UF to ask about the petition, and when I spoke with them they said they would call if your petition went through, if you were taken off the waitlist, or in the unfortunate event you weren't accepted at all. Keep me posted. And I'm glad to hear you got in elsewhere just in case. Do you mind me asking where? Best of luck!

hi everyone! congrats to those who got accepted. i am graduating from uf and moving to jacskonville to start unf's nursing program. me and my roommate are subleasing our rooms in a 3/3 for the summer for $407/month all inclusive at the district on 62nd. the apartment is furnished and the rooms are pretty spacious. there are busses that run to campus regularly and the apartment is really close to the mall and butler plaza. this would be a great opportunity for you all to room with each other. our lease actually ends in august so you could just resign to stay in the same apartment. if you have any questions feel free to messege me at [email protected]. thanks and congrats again!! go gators :yeah:

@ samiam: you didn't make me feel like I shouldn't have petitioned lol, I've been thinking about this for a while. But, good luck with the schools that you applied to for the fall semester, I'm sure you'll get excited to one of them. As long as you know this something you really want I'm sure things will work out well for you.

O ok, thank you so much. I'm hoping I get some kind of call soon. I was accepted to Duke, but seeing as I'm a Florida resident I was really trying to go to a Florida school, but if I don't get in to UF, I'll be going to Duke.

Did you apply to Florida schools that start in the Fall, do you mind me asking which ones? I'm just trying to keep my options open.

@gatorgirl-wow Duke? that's awesome, but I feel ya on the out-of-state tuition. I did the for my Masters and it pretty much cost me my first born child lol. I've applied to UCF, UNF, USF, NOVA, and FGCU....UNF if my first choice- I made it to the interview stage for summer, but didn't get in. Nova is probably the easiest for me to get into, but I don't really want to pay private tuition either. If for some reason I don't get in for the fall I'll just apply to UCF and FGCU for the spring and if necessary to all of the schools all over again for next summer lol. It's such a process but in the end I know it will be worth it.

O ok, I didn't know that all of those schools had fall programs. I'm definitely going to look into those. I wish you the best of luck as you go through the application process. Keep me posted on how things work out for you.

Well none of them are accelerated programs-except for USF-but I figure at this point If i get into a 2 year program in the fall, I'll finish at around the same time as waiting for an accelerated program next summer lol

yeah that makes sense :)

hey guys! you must be so excited to start the program! congrats on getting in!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! so im subleasing my place. its a 2/2. it's 471 a month for just one bedroom.this price includes the apartment furnished, flat screen tv, electricity to a 45 cap per bedroom. internet, extended cable, water and sewer(unlimited) washer and dryer, screen in balconies with furniture. i am going to pay the 200 transfer fee and this is just to put the apartment under your name and they will come and clean it head to toe before you move in. there are two buses that run through here the 20 and 21. you can go to rts.com and it shows you the routes and time it passes. if you have a car you have to get a decal. it is free because they want a decal because it is a gated community. after 10 pm visitors need to show id and say the apartment number with the person''s name to come in to the complex. cabana has its own gym and pool open 24 hours and its free. also, if you do decide to pick my apartment you get three keys, the front door that you and the other roommate will have, another key that is just for your room so you can lock your room when you are gone, and the last key is for the mailbox.rent is due the latest the 3rd of each month. if you have any more question please email. :) i think i covered everything. you can email me at [email protected].

you could sublease both rooms to for 942 a month.

has anyone heard anything about their petition yet? I caved and sent mine in last minute....I figured the worst that happens is I get a second rejection letter lol. Congrats again to those who got in!
