Hello everyone. I'm new to allnurses.com and I just wanted to say congrats to those who got into the 2012 UCF nursing program this summer.

I am a prenursing student at UCF as I am still working on a few prerequisites before I apply to CON.

Seeing you all on here, all going through the things I'll be going through next spring makes me feel better about this whole process.

Good luck to everyone!!! Strap in! It's going to be one kind of a ride from what I've heard.

Is there anyone out there who is planning on applying to accelerated program (ABSN) that starts in summer 2013? I'm starting this thread in hopes of finding many of you who wouldn't mind going through this somewhat stressful process together! :)

I am very excited and hopeful that I'll be accepted next year. I already have a bachelor's degree in finance and investments so my #1 choice is the accelerated route, however I will also apply to the basic program as a back up option, which will start in the fall of 2013.

Anyone has taken TEAS yet? I took it in spring semester and scored 82. My overall GPA is 3.90 and prerequisite GPA 4.0 so far. I still have 4 prerequisites to complete. Should I retake the TEAS? I heard that scoring 90 or above makes you really competitive.

Thanks for all of your responses.

Best of luck!!!

Did anyone get a chance to ask about the size of the applicant pool this year?

I'm not sure how many people applied to the program this year but I know that about a 100 will be interviewed on 03/22.

I guess we can always call and find out, or I can email one of the advisors. She has been great in responding to my questions.

How r u guys holding up?

I'm a little more nervous each day.

I aced my quiz and presentation yesterday and now I'm studying for a big test on Monday.

I'm having the hardest time concentrating.

Seriously...

Monday afternoon can't come soon enough..

After my exam it will all be about the interview. ;)

Do u guys have your outfits all ready for the big day?

I picked mine up from the cleaners this week. :)

I still need to steam my suit. It's in the normal work clothing rotation, so it gets a little more wear than just the occasional interview or event. I finally found a shirt today that isn't too casual and doesn't make me look like a waitress.

I've been practicing my interview questions each day on my commute. Since I have to drive to Kissimmee for half of the week, I've gotten in a lot of time. The people around me probably think I'm crazy but that's fine.

I have been really unproductive at work. I just can't concentrate. I haven't told my family that I even have an interview because I don't want to disappoint them if I don't get in. I have no other educational options at this point. It's UCF or I have to work at my job another year (and they already hired my replacement and moved me from my front office to a cubicle in the back warehouse....

What class(es) are you in now? :D

Physiology with lab. I love this class but the hardest test of the semester is just before the interview.

@ mrsbacktoschool

UCF is my only option too. I applied to basic but would really like to get to ABSN.

So here is to hoping and praying that it happens.

Basic is my back up too but now not so sure. Remington was my third choice due to cost. But then I thought hmmmm Basic won't get out till May 2015. Remington might cost $15,000 more but will get out July 2014. As a nurse I will make more than $15,000 in that time so Remington might be smarter. But I could have applied to Remington and started 2 months ago if I had really done that math and maybe broken even on what I would make over the time to get in and finish accelerated. I just feel like a state school has a better shot of getting me into a nursing masters program down the road. So praying I get accelerated and don't have to decide about the other 2! Other than these programs I have no plan D. I have been a stay at home mom for 10 years and have had no luck re-entering the workforce!

It doesn't matter now cause it's down to the "about 100" but I still am curious cause it was about 300 last year I think they said.

I hope you get UCF. I thought of Remington as well. That is until I learned that it isn't regionally accredited. I looked at the master's programs in Florida, and most of them need a BSN from a regionally accredited school. Just for that reason I would not even consider Remington. Plus I read somewhere on allnurses that some hospitals won't employ students from Remington because of its lack of regional accreditation. Just my two cents...

Fingers crossed for you!

OK, one week to go!

I will dig deeper into this later but it seemed to me that Remington and UCF carried the same accredidation. From what I have heard getting the job is not an issue but I don't know about masters. Guess I'll look into it more deeply after that interview!

T - 168 hours till show time. ;)

UCF Basic is my backup plan too, but I really think the accelerated will be a better fit for me. Plus, the less time out of work the better.

Good luck on your test Nursowiczka2b- You can do it!!!!

I'm taking Nutrition and HIV-Human Disease at UCF now. I can't find it anywhere but the orientation representative for the nursing school told us that this could fill in for a nursing elective, which is why I signed up. Admittedly, it is informative, but not my favorite.

I think I am just mostly nervous about the acceptance letter day because it sets a lot into motion. I know I can make an impression in the interview and I'm pretty comfortable with interviewing in general. But the whole not knowing what I'll be doing come May is the more nerve-wracking part!!!
