Hello everyone. I'm new to allnurses.com and I just wanted to say congrats to those who got into the 2012 UCF nursing program this summer.

I am a prenursing student at UCF as I am still working on a few prerequisites before I apply to CON.

Seeing you all on here, all going through the things I'll be going through next spring makes me feel better about this whole process.

Good luck to everyone!!! Strap in! It's going to be one kind of a ride from what I've heard.

Is there anyone out there who is planning on applying to accelerated program (ABSN) that starts in summer 2013? I'm starting this thread in hopes of finding many of you who wouldn't mind going through this somewhat stressful process together! :)

I am very excited and hopeful that I'll be accepted next year. I already have a bachelor's degree in finance and investments so my #1 choice is the accelerated route, however I will also apply to the basic program as a back up option, which will start in the fall of 2013.

Anyone has taken TEAS yet? I took it in spring semester and scored 82. My overall GPA is 3.90 and prerequisite GPA 4.0 so far. I still have 4 prerequisites to complete. Should I retake the TEAS? I heard that scoring 90 or above makes you really competitive.

Thanks for all of your responses.

Best of luck!!!

I am just going over general questions and really getting to know myself, strengths/weaknesses, why nursing, etc... From what I heard from the spring Daytona BSN interviewees, they were very standard questions just getting to know you and the interview was only like 20 minutes long. I think they just want to make sure that you are capable of completing the program and don't have obstacles holding you back. I don't think they will ask a lot of ethical/situational type questions because its a group interview. It would be too easy to go off of other peoples answers. If they just ask questions about you, you have to give them honest personalized answers. Even though I am nervous. I think its best to stay calm and just get excited for it! Its finally almost here!!! Be yourself, if your a good fit for the program, you will get in!

Thanks lexiucf,

That's exactly what I'm thinking as far as the interview goes. I was also told by one of the advisors that you want to be yourself and speak the most true about who you are. If you're not natural and try to be someone you're not the panelists will most likely sense that.

What I can't help but wonder is the fact that if they invite twice as many people as there is available seats in the program, there must be something they certainly look for in a candidate. I mean, after all half of the candidates will essentially be waitlisted and half will be offered a spot after the interview process is completed.

Does anyone know how many people applied to ABSN this year? Sometimes they release that information over the phone if some asks.

I'm sure they are looking for people who are just genuine and really excited about nursing. The only thing I'm willing to bet will differ from the other interviews is the accelerated part. I went through a master's program with an accelerated component that I had to interview for. They asked me about study habits and ways I could handle all of the extra work. I told them that I have a lot of support and my time management skills are superb. I told them that I am not a procrastinator and I handle a busy schedule well- less time to be distracted.

8 days left for letters!

The emails will be sent tomorrow. I can smell it in the air. Lol ;)

I think so too!!!

I sure hope so.... my work schedule is starting to fill up April and will approach May soon... I want to happily hand in my notice soon!

Oh my gosh. All I can say is that I wasn't nervous until I looked at this forum! I feel like there's a countdown clock ticking down until tomorrow! I'm sad because one of the schools I went to for prereq classes for Spring and Summer 2012 sent UCF an official transcript in December/January with only one semester attached!! So annoyed... Luckily one of the advisors let me know so I could send an unofficial transcript and resend the official, but I'm not sure when it will be processed since it's spring break. MAD!! I will literally be biting my fingernails until tomorrow. Okay sorry. Venting done now.

Don't feel so nervous alisano.tru, we are just all a little crazy with the wait. I actually do have a countdown app installed on my phone for the different deadlines! CON said that letters go out "up until a week before the interview." The interview is March 22, so that makes the cutoff for the letters the end of the day on March 15. We still technically have another week to go.

When I asked when we find out about interviews she said a week the date, and then said, well, 7 business days. I'm hoping we hear before next Friday since I'm assuming some people might need to give work or childcare a little more notice than a week.

I guess I just convinced myself we will find out tomorrow since I know a couple other schools gave their decisions this week. I keep telling myself to relax. I mean, I'm excited! Just a little nervous too. I really just hate the idea of not knowing anything.

Tell me about it. I made plans to go camping that Friday- I might need to get a solar charger so I can keep my phone on and check every 5 minutes. How evil, UCF email just dinged with a new message that reads "Invitation to attend......" another on-campus event. I should probably make myself only check the email once a day, this is getting pretty ridiculous.
