    [font=book antiqua]hey all!
    at last west coast speaks! i graduated charlotte county at the tech center in 2003. let me tell you people, since moving to tn after being hurricaned out in 2004 by charley, i found out an interesting tidbit of info. apparently up here in knoxville, there is a deep respect for florida nurses. they believe if you can get through a florida nursing school, you can handle nursing anywhere. we are known for having the toughest nursing schools to graduate from. for this we should all be proud! i am almost done with my rn here, and let me tell you, it is the easiest program. due to time and work schedule i had to start my last few credits with excelsior, but it too is a breeze because of the strong foundation given to me by my instructors back home. be proud and stand strong. no state has a perfect system, but i can honestly speak for where i have been and my hospital is the best ( before it got destroyed anyway) best of luck to you all!

    oh and p.s. if for some reason you do leave the state, keep your home license active...it is not only cheaper at renewal time than to cancel, but it sure looks good on an application anywhere else!!!

    Awesome! I already got my shots and dropped off my letter of intent, and can't wait until orientation - is yours on 4/10 also? I think we take similar classes first semester, at least.

    Same orientation date. I didn't even get my forms in the mail until today!!! I dropped the intent to enroll form at the office an hour ago, went to SHS to get the TB test and was told Thursday is the only day they can't do them u_u. So I'm going in tomorrow morning for that, and I've got a Red Cross CPR course scheduled for the day before orientation (I'm certified, but I lost my card). It's gonna be a fun week... .

    I don't think USF accepts the Red Cross CPR class. You have to take a class certified my the American Heart Association unless they've changed that stupid rule. I'm in the 2nd semester of USF's 2nd BSN program. Just wanted to give you a heads up.

    Oh, crap. I do have AHA CPR certification -- that's the card I lost! I wasn't able to find a place that teaches it w/them so I signed up for this Red Cross class... Has anyone asked to see your card, or do they take your word for it? Thanks for the warning! =)

    You're welcome. When I started (last fall), they wanted an actual copy of the card. They've since changed the student health form, so they may just take your word for it. I'm not sure. I took my BLS cert at All Children's, but that may be too far for you if you live in Tampa (I live in St. Pete). If you've already taken the class but just lost the card, you should be able to get a copy from the AHA. They may keep copies on file. Good luck!

    I thought we just had to have the BLS before classes (or clinicals?) started, so I haven't signed up for one yet. I hoped they'd give us more info at orientation...I got everything else out of the way so I could register immed following orientation though. And yeah, the health center told me to come pick up my form last Tuesday, so I spent 30 min each way driving out here, and it was the day of the "health fair," so they were closed. And I had an online exam to take and was wasting study time...still did fine though, but I was a little miffed at the time!

    I'm starting USF's Accelerated BSN in May. Just about a month to go. I can't wait!

    Me neither! I want to get orientation over with so I can start planning everything and know what my schedule will look like exactly.

    oh my gosh, you sound just like I do. I really want to register so I can't start planning (I'm such a nerd, man!) I haven't received my packet yet, so I had to call the CON and get all my info together for orientation, so let me ask you: did they say what to wear to orientation? Business casual or just regular clothes? It's such a little detail but I hate showing up over or under dressed, you know?
