Strongly considering Moving to Tampa area/changing jobs.

U.S.A. Florida

I have decided to leave the VA in Milwaukee, WI after 2 years post-graduation and try travel nursing. I have looked into BayCare, especially the Morton Plant Hospital in Clearwater Florida. As for housing, there are several places that an apt hunter has recommended. One is Bay Isle Key on 11850 Dr Martin Luther King Jr St North in St. Petersburg and the other is Island Walk on 5365 Harborside Drive in Tampa.

Does anyone know of any of these places, specifically the hospital, travel agency, or the above listed housing? I would greatly appreciate any input from anyone who has worked or lived there.

Moved your post to the FL Forum so that you get the best exposure. Good luck to you.

Bay Isle Key is expensive for what you get, IMHO. It has also gone condo (about 2 years ago) PM me if you are looking for suggestions for places to live in the Tampa Bay area.

Hopefully you'll get your housing provided or get a stipend.

The area in St. Petersburgs where that apt. is a decent place to live with good shopping and restaurants and easy access to interstates.

A concern would be the traffic to Morton Plant from those places. Lots of thick traffic, especially in the winter.

Morton Plant and Bay Care facilities are fairly decent places to work.

Island Walk is in downtown Tampa on Harbour Island. It's on the water and it's expensive. I knew someone who lived there about eight years ago and rent was $1800 a month for a three bedroom two bath. The water stinks, traffic sucks especially during rush hour or anytime there is an event at the St Pete Times Forum (hockey games, concerts) be prepared to not be able to leave or get back to your place for an at least an hour before or after, and the developers have starting building condos all throughout downtown with each building averaging 300 units and a lot of one way roads, hurriacane season it's a level A means your the first to be evaucuated and they will lock you out of your house (they're gated communities). Plus Morton Plant is in Clearwater and that is a good 45 min drive with no traffic. Plus side your by the Aquarium and close to the theme parks, they have built restaurants.

You can do searches by communities to look for crime statistics and schools if you have children. If you want to go a little further north check Port Richey or if you want Tampa try Town N Country and the Largo area. The are a little cheaper in costs for apartments or homes but still close to were you want to work. Good Luck.

As for the recommedation from those online apartment guides most give their recommendation if the company pays a little more for the ad. It' the same as the featured properties.
