Are there any nursing students who are attending Saint Petersburg College? I am going into my first semester on the 20th.

Cool, I got evenings at St. Anthony's too. I'm so nervous and excited about starting. I wish I could buy the books now but they are so expensive. So I think I'll wait til December. Anyway goodluck
Rookie,
Don't buy maternity/ob/peds until you have to. Chances are they will change editions anyhow....that is a way to save money. Also, for clinical outfits, they want you to buy a SPC polo, you can also get a cheap white polo and just sew on an SPC patch and that will cut the cost in half for you. Cut corners where you can, you're gonna run out of money fast trust me.
I am going to put in for a schedule change at work today, so hopefully they will be cool about it. I can't buy all the books right now either, I only ordered three to try to get started on the reading at least. I am anxious about starting too.
Don't kill yourself too much on reading....just read your fundamentals book and focus on the chapters relating to hygiene, bathing, bed changes, try the skills at home first and follow along the book. Skills checkoffs are the most stressful in level 1, get a good stethascope, lots of black pens and a few pen lights, you'll lose them a few times in your 2 years.

I know you have already started, I am starting nursing school in August 08 at SPC...FINALLY got in. How was your first year?
How long until you finally got in? Were your grades high and all pre-req's done when you applied?

Thanks Scuba!!! I'm taking online mico/lab in Aug, but I have everything else completed as well. Hopefully I will have something telling me yes/no/maybe in the mail when I get home from work. Congrats and good luck!

I am in the summer session right now, and it is very difficult. So who are your instructors? Day or night? I am in the evenings. Get ready to give up your life. Start studying now and get a head start.
Hello,
I am starting nursing school at SPC in Spring 2010 and choose the day schedule because I was too scared I not going to successfully get through the summer nursing classes. I am now in a spot where I almost have no choice to take evenings due to childcare issues in the mornings and I'm very concerned about how hard the classes will be in the summer. My choices are; 1) do I hire someone to take care & bring my children to school in the a.m. or 2)take the evening classes and struggled in summer (and potentially not get a good education). Am I being overly concerned about the SPC summer nursing classes or is it really that hard? I've been told by an instructor that once you choose day or evening classes you have to stick with that schedule for the whole program because it's to hard to make a switch.
