Does anyone have any good/bad information about Saint Johns River Community College. Im wondering about their point system and how hard it is to actually get in.

I don't know much about it--my step-sister was in their first graduating class about 6 years ago and just said she didn't think the program was hard. I've looked into their program too. I don't know where you live, but their program is 5 semesters and FCCJ's is 4...something to consider.

SJRCC teaches Rehab Nursing where FCCJ doesn't. That's the extra semester. I went to SJRCC & I don't know about now (some things have changed), but I got in on my first try & the extra semester wasn't really all that bad.

Not true. At SJRCC (Palatka) the NS gets the entire Summer B off

Hello!! Well I was supposed to be going to SJRCC nursing program but I got a offer here in Miami at barry university so i moved here to get my BSN. But from what I have heard ppl with 3.0 have been getting in , all of my friends got in! You will be fine I promise you!! If you have any questions about St.Augustine or SJRCC just let me know I lived there my whole life and went to school there for 2 years!! Good luck!

Just graduated from O.P. campus in August sat for my boards yesterday and feel like a piece of crap today. SJRCC could have been better but overall it was a good experience, but remember you get out of it what oyu put into it.

Hey Hammie! Was SJRCC hard? I've heard it isn't so bad. Also, what do you mean about they could have been better? Would you think that FCCJ is a better program? Also, do you know anything in regards to their new point system at SJRCC? Thanks!

I think every school in this area could do some improving when it comes to nursing programs. I wish we could have had a variety of hospitals to visit, but we didn't. As well as more clinical time. I my self think you learn hands on better than with a book in front of you. I graduated in August from SJRCC and it took me three years from start to finish with pre-reqs and the program if I had it to do all over again I would have gone to UNF. But you will be fine, I just passed my boards on Friday. The points system is based on your grades, you get all A's you get in the program with no problem. I'm actually attending the SJRCC palatka program. I just started for

think differently. See I quit my job and took out a lone to support me while in school. As for the point scale, take the CNA course for the extra point and move into the county for more points and you should be fine. Over all first semester was like boot camp for me. It's a break em down build em up kind of mentality, I literally had to adapt to a new world.

Thanks, Hammie for your info! What hospital(s) did you work with in school? Also, you said that you'd attend UNF over SJRCC if you had to do it all over again....How about FCCJ? How difficult was the nursing program at SJRCC? Congrats on passing your boards!!! Way to go! :cheers:

jnmoore02, thanks, to you, too, for your input! So are you in the first semester? How much harder would you say nursing classes are than prereqs? How much do you study every day?
