question-moving to FL

HI there! I'm new to this site, and new to nursing, I will be graduating soon...we plan to move to the orlando area so that the fiance can complete his masters on campus there. I am trying to get some advice on good hospitals and networks to work within this area. I am shooting for a position in ER or ICU to better hone my skills. Regardless of who is hiring... We are traveling down to visit in about a month for vacation/browsing time, and i was wondering if someone could steer me in the correct direction?? Thank you for any and all advice!!! :confused:

I am not from Florida so I can't give you any information about the hospitals in the Orlando area as far as available positions, work conditions, etc. My parents lived in Orlando for several years and have been patients in Orlando Regional Medical Center (ORMC) and Florida Hospital.

The job situation here is dismal as best, particularly for new grads. If you're planning to take NCLEX in your current state and endorse your license over, then be aware that many places will not even consider your application if you don't have a current FL license. I would suggest that you take pretty much any job you're offered and don't count on getting your first choice, just count yourself lucky to get a job anywhere. Sorry to sound so negative, but it's the reality of the moment.

The official unemployment rate is around 12% in FL. Sorry to be a downer, but now is not a good time to be looking for a job in FL. And with this oil spill I expect things to get worse in FL because tourism is our number one industry.

You're going to need all the luck you can get in finding a job as a new grad. Take whatever you're offered, you can't be fussy in this economy.

True however Orlando Health has the only level 1 trauma center in central florida
