PHCC Hopefuls for spring 09

U.S.A. Florida

Any Pasco/Hernando- PHCC hopefuls? I just applied to the Lpn program last week, waiting is the worst. Anybody else out there in the same boat?

Wap, I am glad for you, really I am, and I'm sorry if I made you feel uncomfortable. I should have walked away from the post instead of responding like I did. Please accept my apology. I was very upset because I had a meeting with an advisor ealier this week who told me that all in-county residents would have preference over out-of district applicants, even if the scores were lower. I was told GPA is 60% and then NET is 40% of the decision. It is just frustrating when the advisors tell you one thing but then you find out differently. It is hard to swallow when you have a GPA of 4.0 and mid-range NET and were put on an alternate list and the only classes you have left are NUR courses. I just wish PHCC would be consistent. Again, my apologies, and I wish you the very best.

Hi again Kay 1982,

Do you mind me asking what your NET scores were?

i don't know if this helps, but when i was accepted to the program in 2007 it was for a start date for 2009, i was like no way.. but i accepted and i guess when people see that far of a start date they reject the position and i was called by the school to start that next semester, so whtever you do never reject the position due to the start date, a lot can happen...good luck!

I got a call from PHCC this afternoon...I GOT IN!!

Congrats!!!

Thanks KK i am so excited!!

I have been accepted to the Spring 2009 RN program at PHCC's west campus. Have any of you applied for a sponsorship? If so, what hospital? What are the pros v. cons in sponsorships? Thanks

How did you all make out @ PHCC? When I was done in the Tampa area last month I met with some faculty to check out the school for future employment when I move to FL. I hope that you get in. I was MEGA impressed. First, the campus is incredibly beautiful but most of all the faculty are incredibly nice. They did not even know me except from emails and invited me to view their facility. They have 5 labs which amazed me and were chosen as one of 10 centers (I think I have this right) in the country for the new Sims (manikens that do everything you can imagine to enhance your learning experience). It seemed like a wonderful school but I was very concerned about the # of students they take in clinical which is 12. That is for the PN program. I don't know about the RN program. it seems that 12 is the status quo in FL and I can't imagine how the instructor can handle 12 students and all the paperwork. In MA, 8 is pretty much the max for most programs and around 6-7 for the RN program. Although, I did have 9-10 at another college and that was a disaster. So, please let me know your feedback. I am always interested in potential students. Blessings as you start your nursing career.:saint:

Congrats kk!! Hey does anyone know of someone who was ever listed as an alternate for the LPN class and got in?

i recieved the letter as an alternate on halloween and i just got a call two days ago saying someone dropped out adn they offered me a position. i know a few other people dropped out of the lpn program besides the persons spot i took so theres still hope.

I sure hope so. Congrats on getting a seat. I'm envious!!!!

Congrats Heather!! I had also got a letter on halloween listing me as an alternate for the LPN class. PHCC called me on Dec.2, to offer me a seat. so i will be starting next month. Are you going into the LPN or the ADN program? How did you find out people dropped out of the LPN class already? again CONGRATS!!

BTW I think I posted this message twice to you sorry:D
