PBSC 2013

U.S.A. Florida

Published

Hi everyone, this is a thread for the January 2013 PBSC students. I know October is right around the corner, so I am a little frazzled right now. I am preparing for the HESI and have purchased the HESI study guide. Haven't made it to the mandatory information session as yet though. Also I was wondering if the Pro-Calc is a required test for new students as well. I didn't see anything online on testing dates etc for that. Is it similar to the HESI?

Registration begins Nov. 6th for those in limited access programs so it can't be MUCH longer although each day seems to be getting longer lol

whoa whoa whoa lol... just checked my email and I didn't get an lpn back up plan email.... And my points haven't posted yet either, I applied pretty late though on the 28th... So whats the email say?!?!

No I haven't heard anything about Friday, but it seems like everyone's points are posting! So wishful thinking lol

I just want to know if I got in so I can start planning for this drive to Belle Glade, not too excited about it but hey!

You'll do fine, I'd be psyched just to get in! I want the list of supplies needed so I can start making up a christmas list and limit my own out of pocket costs as much as possible. :)

Heres a copy of the e-mail, if you need any of the attachments let me know and I'll try to figure out a way to post them... (as long as I'm still in town). It shouldv'e been sent to your school e-mail not a personal account, just in case there was any confusion.

Greetings,

I know that you are anxiously awaiting notifications

regarding acceptance or denial to the RN program. If you have not started

thinking about your “Plan B” if you are not accepted; I encourage you to begin

thinking about it now.

I ask that you consider the LPN program. The LPN program

is highly respected in the community, is an excellent way to begin your nursing

career, is very affordable and covered by financial aid. Upon successful

completion of the LPN program students are eligible to complete the transition

to RN program.

You are welcome to attend the next information session

for Palm Beach State College’s Licensed Practical Nursing (LPN) that will be

held on Thursday, October 25, 2012 at 5pm in ETA 159 of the Lake Worth

campus. Please arrive 15-20 minutes early so that you can park and get to

the room.

Attached you will find the application checklist for the

program and a flyer for the program. The application deadline is November 15,

2012.

Please contact me if I can be of further assistance to

you.

Best Regards,

LM

Hope we find out this Friday!!! Fingers crossed that we all get in!

Not to be a bummer, but I doubt we'll hear anything until the end of the month. Looking through past threads...Spring 2012 applicants found out October 31st and Spring 2011 found out November 1st. I really hope we don't have to wait that long!

Thanks for the reassurance!

Hey! Christmas list, I didn't think about that! lol. Instead of gifts, I just want books :wacky:

Its not mandatory to take pharm with first semester but i would highly recommend giving it a try. if you wait until summer and then dont pass your out of the program... it happened to some people.

a lot of us took it during 1st semester and did just fine, its doable, just plan to be BUSY!

I'm in second semester now, and if you're in the program, you have to take pharm during first semester, you just get the second chance in the summer if you fail it. But you can't do first semester without having pharmacology with it. Good luck to all who applied!

Not just books... I've heard the shoes alone are over 100 bucks. We need uniforms, stethescopes, pen lights, and then the massive amounts of books! Help me out Santa lol

Lol @ Santa!!!

Hi all. I applied to the Lake Worth PT program and posted 29.3 points about a week after I applied. I just need the final word so that I can stop worrying. I've been checking Panther Web everyday! I got an email from the registrar that my appeal for Chem classes was approved, although, I never appealed it. I took CHM2045 and CHM2046, but not CHM1032. They said this will be the last time they accept it and any future applications will require that course. I thought that maybe this was a good sign, after all why would they process an appeal that I didn't request for no reason? Then I got the dreaded email about the back up plan. I thought, "Well crap! Maybe this means I didn't get in."

Argggg! 2 more weeks and we should know!

Also, I am taking Pharm now. It isn't that it is a hard course, just a lot of information crammed into one semester. Good luck everyone! We are all hopefully in for a wild ride come January!

Hey guys! So i emailed nursing asking if she had any idea as to when we would know and this is what she said:It is taking a little bit longer than expected for processing. We received over 150 applications in the 3 days leading up to the deadline. Acceptance and denials cannot go out until every application has been processed. So I ask that you remain patient.
