New Grad in Miami (ADN) - RN

U.S.A. Florida

I'm desperate, I need help. I'm looking for an RN job and application after application has led me nowhere.

Any tips? Where to look? Where to join? What to do? I have nothing...

The job market is pretty tight, which is unfortunate if you're just starting out. This might sound obvious, but I have to ask: have you applied everywhere you can think of, including places that weren't on your top list? Meaning nursing homes, skilled care facilities. Anything and everything that might hire an RN?

I totally agree with the previous poster. If you have not considered employment options outside the hospital such as nursing homes, physical rehab, private duty, home health, hospice, psych, jails, prisons and clinics, please consider these options closely. Good luck to you!

Where in Miami have you been looking? "Miami" is such a large area....and we have about 10 schools that pump out new grads. Also, there is a LARGE Hispanic population that requires care in Spanish (speaking from various experiences)-- so that could limit your opportunities. For these reasons, as someone who is seeking an ADN myself, I am leaving Miami for a slightly better market.

I am in the same boat...I have applied at 9 places.

Jackson is calling back people from the open house. My friend just got a position at ICU..I had 3 interviews at the open house. They said that they will my papers directly to the recruiter's hands. I don't know what this means. I have to keep having faith and hope for the best. :)

sorry I meant to say the interviewers will give my papers to the recruiter's hands.

Has anyone had a similar situation?

krod, what school did you attend? Try Palmetto hospital and Hialeah hospital. They are hiring.
