Hello Ludy,

I'm so sorry to hear things did not go well. I'm hoping you can inform me as to what you did (if anything) and didn't like. Were the faculty helpful? The student handbook states that Barry is $12K per semester, but what other fees did you encounter (basically how much did you dish out, if it's not to personal to ask). What hours did you go to class? How many hours daily in rotations? Any help would be greatly appreciated as I don't know anyone personally in that accelerated program.

Thanks!

im assuming u have a previous BA/BS to be doing the the Acc. program.

did u take all these pre-req to get in?

BIO 220 Introductory Human Anatomy (with lab)

BIO 240 Introduction to Human Physiology (with lab)

BIO 253 Introductory Microbiology (with lab)

CHE 152 Introduction to Organic and

Biological Chemistry (with lab)

MAT 152 Elementary Probability & Statistics

PSY 281 Introduction to Psychology

PSY 382 Developmental Psychology

PSY/SOC One course in either of these areas

DIN 271 Nutrition in Clinical Care

PHI/THE Philosophy and Theology courses (6 credits)

THE/PHI 353 Biomedical Ethics

CS Computer Elective

cuz just to take all those classes it would be 2 years and then another 1.5 or

or do they look at ur previous degree for credits.??

Good god, I can not BELIEVE those dropout rates if that's true- most of the class doesn't make it through? Is that because they take just anybody, whether the people are capable of handling the class or not, so they can make money off the tuition? It just sounds like there's something really wrong with a program where the majority of the people flunk out.

Oh, and for the person asking about pre-req's - I'm looking at schools all over Florida that have "two year" nursing programs, and as far as I can tell, to get your RN degree, you have to take pretty much the same pre-requisites everywhere. Which adds AT LEAST a year to the two year program. So I am sure it's the same with the accelerated second degree programs.

thats crazy. :(

i looked at the fl BON pass/fail rates last night and only a very few have their #'s up in the 90% + range...

the ADN candidates did better than the BSN candidates in some cases..

I still want to know if it's true that so many people don't finish the Barry program! I have a bachelor's degree in another field and I would LOVE to get my BSN in four semesters, but I would hate to spend 40 grand on a program and then flunk out.

As for the pre-reqs - there's no way around them if you want your RN. There are two-year schools like Galen and Keiser that cost about $36,000 to $46,000, which have the pre-reqs as month long full-time classes that are part of their program so you save a lot of time that way - but most universities won't accept those classes as a transfer credit, so if you were ever pursuing a higher degree you might have to retake the pre-reqs. (Like A&P I and II, biochemistry, etc.)

I read about the Barry BS program at Baptist, only 30 students win the scholarship, someone has been in this program at Baptist? It takes 5 semesters but I want to know how hard is this? and what probabilities I would have to get into the Baptist program if I have a 3.79GPA. ??? and... in addition to your 60 credits of your AA degree how many additional classes do you need to take to complete all the prerequisites? I've already completed my AA but I think I will need more than 1 semester to finish all the requisites to get into Barry, so I would like to know how convenient is that program before taking the prerequisite clases.

THANK YOU VERY MUCH FRIENDS

Does any one know which one is best for RN to BSN between FIU and FAU? Thanks.
