FSCJ Summer 2013 Nursing Students

U.S.A. Florida

Published

Hi everyone, well I'm starting this convo so we all can get an idea of who, what, when, and where with FSCJ. Good topics would include testing materials, the average ranking of points for the upcoming term, and any other useful ideas that will help us all get into to this crazy hard nursing program! :) So, lets see if we can help each other out....and it's kinda fun to talk about nursing as well :)

Not to sound silly but how do you get that many points? I may be adding up my NAT score wrong. You take the raw scores from Academic Aptitude Reading, and Science, add them up and multiply them by .64? Thanks so much for responding! :)[/quote']

Yes your correct! Add those up. And I think a student can get up to 260 pts to apply with? That's 120 for prereqs, 120 for nat and 20 for job experience(lpn, EMT..) :)

It's actually possible to get even more than that. My raw score on the three sections counted from the NAT was a 188 which came out to a 120.32 when I multiplied it by the 0.64 so I had to call the nursing office at FSCJ to make sure I calculated it right since on the application packet it said 120 points were possible from the NAT!! They said it is possible to get more.

So when I combine my 120.32 points from the NAT with my 104 from pre-reqs (I'm still enrolled in Micro so I can't count those), I've ended up with a 224.32.

@NoraVeronica, if you need help tallying up your points, just let us know and we'll help but you do have the info correct about which scores to add together and multiply by 0.64 :)

I know it says ENC 1101 is counted for your grades. What if you got a higher grade in ENC1102? Do they count that?

Thats so many points good job. Its just confusing bc my raw scores are INS: 44, RC: 19, AA: 58. Like my raw scores are low but I thought I did so much better on the test bc it says I got in the 97th percentile for AA, 95th percentile for Reading, and 86th percentile for Natural Sciences. So a little confused.

I don't have the nursing application in front of me but if ENC1102 is in the list of classes they say you can use then yes they will count the higher grade from the ENC1102 class. I called the nursing office about that myself since I had taken two different humanities classes and got a B in one and an A in another. They said that since both of the classes were listed as classes I could have taken to satisfy that portion of the application then the higher one would be counted (I highlighted the one I wanted to be used on the transcript I turned in with my application just to be on the safe side ;))

So you would have 77.44 points from the NAT to add to your points from your grades...is that what you calculated too?

Remember that the percentile rankings are just comparing your scores to others who have taken the test and not the percentage of questions you got right in that section. The upside of that is since you scored so highly on your percentiles you probably have a good chance of getting in to the program since you ranked so high compared to others who have taken the test (not taking into consideration your points from your grades).

Yeah thats how I calculated it too. Thank you so much! I didnt know that thing about the percent scores! Thanks! Youre a big help!

Well now the clock begins...nobody else can apply for the summer semester! Yay its almost time! I really hope they send the letters out early! Grrr. No more waiting plz ; )

I'm with you on that!! Excited anxious anticipation!!!!!!!!

Does anyone have an idea of how many people they let in for days or nights? I am trying to get into days!:)

Does anyone have an idea of how many people they let in for days or nights? I am trying to get into days!:)

Last time I heard they accept 96 people total into the Summer class and only 24 of those are for nights/weekends. The Fall and Spring classes are bigger (144).

Aghh! I wish I would have asked that as well. I received a B in ENC1101 but an A in ENC 1102 and I had the same thing for humanities. I used my B's=( That would have put me at 211. Oh well, I think my points are still decent enough to get in. If not I sure hope fall will not be a problem.

I applied for days for the Summer 2013 start. However, if I do not get accepted this term, do you know if in Fall if I apply for nights and weekends and do not get selected for NW's but my points are strong enough for days will they automatically put me in days or just automatically cut me out because my points were not strong enough for N/Ws?

I feel like my application has been in for so long. I keep looking at the date and it seems like time is creeping by. Does anyone have the new app for fall term? I am going to apply just in case but I am really really hoping summer works out!
