Anyone from Galen College of Nursing in Tampa Area

U.S.A. Florida

Hello everyone! Is anyone currently attending Galen College of Nursing in St.Petesburg/Tampa Bay Area? If you aren't currently attending, but have in the past? I would love to here your feedback, too. I just wanted to know how you feel about the school and what your experience has been like. I will be taking my cpat at Galen tomorrow. I'm very excited and hopefully all goes well.

Hey everyone I am reading your posts about Galen, which I am really considering going there. I just took the TEAS At Erwin...But I missed the score by a .1%!!! I am just tired of waiting..I was looking to start Galen anytime after this coming December. Can anyone tell me how the entrance exam is for Galen? and Do they know of the classes opening in Dec, Jan, or Feb. I really want the one at night that is 5-10 but If I could get done faster with morning full time 8-5 I would love that! Please let me know. The only thing that has stopped me from going is the price and the drive to get there. The price because I already have school loans already, But I'm getting to the point I just want to get it. I moved here for Illinois about 1 year ago and was doing prereques for HCC but then I seen how hard it is to get in. Now that I've been here for a while I've talked and also work with so many people that have gone to Galen and love it. So please if anyone can give me any advice on any of those topics I posted please do!! Thanks!

Hi Jessica! As you can see from my posts I do not attend yet, but I have some information. Are you planning on doing the LPN or the new RN program? I am doing the RN which takes 2 years days. I have some information they e-mailed me and if you would like to PM me your e-mail I would be glad to send it your way. It is the curriculum plan for the LPN, the bridge, and the straight RN programs. It shows what classes you take each semester. Let me know if it would help. As for the PAX, I took the PAX-RN last year. I have been out of school (I went to college previously) for 8 years, 7 at the time, and I scored 132. I am terrible at math and not great at science. I just bought the study guide and studied as much as I could for a couple to a few weeks. You'll do great. Classes are pretty much always open if you are looking far enough ahead (from what I can tell). For example, I applied for this November but my application won't be reviewed until the August class starts. So if you are looking for a start date after December, it would be February start and your application would be reviewed after the November class starts. Hope this helped! :)

I Tried asking someone about the RN 2 year program, but got no response. I'm currently enrolled for the LPN program day time. What's the difference between doing RN 2 year program and then LPN then RN bridge. Do you know? Now I'm kind of freaking out that I'm not doing the right thing. Thanks!!!

:uhoh3: I was wondering about the new RN 2year program as well because there are cna's at my job thinking about doing the program? Any info would be great!

I'm scared now because I'm already signed up for the LPN program and ready to start in August and now I feel like I'm going the wrong route.

But you know what, maybe it is for people who already have an associates degree, or are already certified LPN's what do you think prettyinblu??

Dont worry just call and ask to speak with someone about it and if its right for you just switch! I wonder when that new program even starts?

Hi guys! Sorry I didn't get back to you sooner...just checked my e-mail! I believe the first class of the RN program starts in August, so you could probably just switch to that. The program is new and is 8 quarters in a row. There is a one week break between quarters. Prettyinblu, I will e-mail you the information after I type this. LynneMarie02, if you would like to message me your e-mail I will send it to you as well. :)

Thanks so much for the information! Did the guy you talked to mention price? I was wondering because the LPN-RN bridge is $22,000 so im wondering if they double the price or give some type of discount?

I'm glad the information helped! He didn't mention price....my calculations show $29700 based on 108 credits. I don't need quite that many as long as I can get some of my Gen Eds to transfer, but it will still be expensive. However, the LPN program is around $20000 plus the bridge program, (if I am calculating correctly), would be $24000. That's at $240/credit. If that's true it would be cheaper and faster to do the straight RN program....

If you get this soon will you forward the information over to me? Either to [email protected] or [email protected] whichever one you have, I'm trying to consolidate e-mails lol and get off the HCC website.

I just talked to someone and I plan on sticking with the LPN program first, and then gonna still bridge over to the RN....

Did they give you cost breakdowns? Is there a reason you are deciding on doing the bridge over the RN? I ask because I want to make sure I do it the best way too! : ) Did they give you any other information? Thanks!
