  1. Thanks so much for your honesty. I actually was thinking of taking the Excelsior route, if they are not a accredited by the time I am ready for my ADN. Did you know that you can transfer in English I, English II, A&P I, A&P II, Microbiology, Dev. Psychology and a Upper Level Math from SPC or HCC? This will greatly reduce the cost. Just a thought for those that may want to do their ADN program. I am so excited! I will finally start on Monday. Hooray! Hooray!
  2. thanks for the warm welcome! i am so excited and nervous at the same time. aahhh! i'm glad that you are having a great experience. i can't wait to start this journey. good luck!
  3. You can always do your LPN at Galen and then do your LPN to RN Bridge at St Pete College, so that you can then move on to USF, UCF or UT for your BSN. I called St. Petersburg College and spoke to the Nursing Program Director. They are just looking at your valid LPN license in this case. I am almost positive that this is true for Hillsborough Community College. Erwin isn't regionally accredited! If you really are concerned, just pick up the phone and ask someone at HCC, St Pete College or any other school you are looking to transfer to. You can attend Galen and still go for your BSN. Just do Galen: LPN, Community or Junior College: LPN to RN and 4 Year University: BSN. If you really want to know, just ask them.
  4. We'll have our orientation on the 4th. I looked into Amazon also and I think I'll save around $70 or $80 bucks. Thanks & Good Luck! Remember to enjoy the experience.
  5. Congrats and lucky you! I am in the evening program. I preferred the day program, but there were already 15 alternates waiting. So I just opted for the evening, instead of waiting until May. Either way I'm very excited! Have you taken your cpr class already or will you be taking it there also? Where did you get your bottoms from? :yeah:
  6. Hey Kristy! I'm starting at Galen in Feb also. Are you attending the day or evening class?
  7. Well, I guess there are no takers. That's fine my fine research skills have helped me make my decision. I just wanted some 1st hand accounts. While at the school this past week, many of the people at the information session I attended were recommended by Galen graduates and a few were returning for their ADN. That in itself says a lot!
  8. I can't believe how ignorant people can be. I am originally from New York myself. I moved here 13 years ago and I will admit that at first I hated the bugs and the humidity. However, like everything else I got used to it. I even got used to everyone saying hi to me when I didn't even know them. I started going to the beach and traveling within Florida and I fell in love. I have been back to New York to visit and can't take the winter months anymore. One day I just realized that this was now home. Most of the people that claim they hate it aren't from here and, from my experience, I can understand it to some point. No one ever said change was easy. I have had my negative experiences, but that will happen anywhere and everywhere you go. I guess the point is...if you don't like your circumstance, change it.
  9. Wow! This is a great post. I enjoyed reading it and actually laughed out loud. You have done an excellent job of capturing and describing what you don't here about as a pre-nursing student.
  10. Hello everyone! Is anyone currently attending Galen College of Nursing in St.Petesburg/Tampa Bay Area? If you aren't currently attending, but have in the past? I would love to here your feedback, too. I just wanted to know how you feel about the school and what your experience has been like. I will be taking my cpat at Galen tomorrow. I'm very excited and hopefully all goes well.
  11. Hey! Where are you located? If you are located in the Tampa Bay Area, have you looked at Galen College of Nursing. There are accredited and I believe you can transfer to St. Pete College or The University of Tampa for your BSN. Galen is has the LPN and LPN to RN program, so you'll leave with your ADN. Just check them out on their website http://www.galencollege.edu . Hope this helps.
  12. Good Luck, mfuentes and try to stay focused on the prize.
