If so, what department, what was your starting pay, how was/is the orientation period, and how do you like the job in itself? Thanks! I look foward to working there when I graduate in 2010:)

Hi latmanRN,

Are you a graduate from a local Central Florida school? Let me know, because depending on where you graduate, Florida Hospital has recruiters for the specific schools and I'd be happy to put you in touch with one of them. Thanks!

Yes!!! I graduated From Valencia Community College. My GPA is 3.89. I passed my NCLEX already. Thank you so much for your willingness to help!!!

PS: Do you go to FBCO? Just curious, my friend told me she knew a Molly who worked at Florida Hospital and went to our Church....

Thanks again

Hi Livia,

I'm happy to put you in touch with a GN recruiter because I know your situation is somewhat complicated considering you have applied and gotten no response from FH. I'm glad you're interested in FH, it's a great organization!

Thanks a lot!!!

I graduated from hawaii and was thinking of relocating to fl. I applied for many new grad positions but all of them replied they were filled. Am I at a disadvantage because I'm not from florida? I already have a florida license. In addition, i tried to go to linktoyourfuture.com and email them my questions but i never got a response from anyone and I even tried to call and left a message to the recruiter but had no luck. Someone please help, what should I do? Is there a better way to be looking for a job? Is there a hiring freeze in Florida as well? Please advise.

Thank you!

Beth

Bethalomew, Florida Hospital is not experiencing a hiring freeze, however, you must know that currently, there are limited GN positions available. The best advice is to keep applying for the GN positions on www.floridahospitalcareers.com. I hope you reach out to the recruiter again and keep in mind that they try to respond to every call/email as quickly as they can. Good luck!

Molly I am also a new GN, just passed my boards. I also applied and didnt hear back from HR and was wondering if you have a certain person I should contact. I am a grad from Lake Sumter Community College. I appreciate any help you can give me!!

Congrats on passing your boards, heymiss! I know there are those who are more than happy to answer your questions and explain Florida Hospital's GN process. Good luck!

Hello Molly. I am a New Nursing Graduate from Miami, Florida. It is very hard finding a job down here. All the positions that I have applied for require 1 year experience. I came across the Florida Hopital website and saw how willing they are to take in new nursing graduates which I think is amazing! I want to join one of the Residency programs but do not know how to go about with the process. Also, there isnt any job listings on the graduate nurse positions or the nursing positions. Are they still hiring for the Residency programs?

Thanks a Million,

Wilene

Hi Wilene,

It's great you are interested in Florida Hospital - it's a great organization to work for. We do have new grad internships/residencies that range from 8 - 21 weeks depending on the program. The programs are based on unit needs, which is why GN positions are not continually posted on the www.floridahospitalcareers.com website, which you saw. The informational website for new grads is: www.linktoyourfuture.com.

Dear Molly,

Thank you so much for the information you provided.

Any new grads seeking employment with Florida Hospital in Orlando area... be careful!! They sell themselves as the "perfect place to work" but they throw their own employees out on the streets to bring in new nurses from out of the area who are unfamiliar with how they 'work'. As an employee with FH for 11 years I was pushed into termination as a new GN due to positions avail only to experienced nurses. Not to mention the contract they make you sign I am still responsible for. ($13,500, which is VERY high. Tampa General has a contract for the same length of time for $2,500 and their program is 10x better!!)... The central florida area for new nurses has limited options. There are only a few companies to work for which have multiple branches. They force the old employees to leave so they can bring in the new ones and pay them less. Florida Hospital has no problems terminating your employment and holding you liable to the ($13,500) contract....

As you seek employment I wish you the best of luck, just be sure this is the BEST choice for you. They do not live by "THE HEALING MINISTRY OF CHRIST"!!

:yeah:Hi Molly

After reading your comments regarding the Florida Hospital you seem to know what your on about regarding recruitment at the hospital. I am an English Registered Nurse who graduated in March from University in England. I was a mature student who passed her Diploma with flying colours first time, no retakes. I have been working within my local hospital on a Cardiothoracic Ward since March, in July of this year I got clearence from the Florida Board to be able to take my NCLEX exam, which I am taking next month in Florida at the Test Centre on the Orange Blossom Trail. I have booked myself in at Kaplan in Tampa on a prep course 3 days before I take my exam. Have you got any information regarding the positions available for International Trained Nurses and do you think I have got any chance of getting a position with the FH. I want to emigrate to the US with my family, which is the quickest way?

God Bless You.
