Accepted to the LPN program in FL

U.S.A. Florida

Published

I have just been accepted into the LPN program at Lake Tech, in Eustis FL. I have my associates degree, and have taken all prerequisites to the RN program except Microbiology and A&P 2, when I finish my LPN I plan on immediately doing the LPN-RN bridge at the local college. I have chosen to take this route because of scheduling. I can't wait to get started! Any advise on things I should brush up on before the start of the program?

VictoriaFL84, Hi! I'm applying for the full-time program beggining in July. I was hoping you could share your experiences and possibly some tips that helped you during your interview. Any help is greatly appreciated!

Good luck! Relax, and be yourself. Be well spoken, educated, dress to impress (don't show up in a ratty t-shirt, jeans and flip flops.. you'd be surprised). Sell yourself on why you would make a great asset to the school! Explain the passion behind why you want to be a nurse. You'll do great I'm sure :)

I agree, and be on time!!! The girl who was supposed to interview before me was over 30mins late, so she had to sit and wait while they took me in to interview!!!

@VictoriaFL84 after the CNA portion of the program are you able to get a job as a cna?

Thanks, ladies! I'll definitely keep that in mind!

Sort of. You aren't automatically licensed after taking the CNA portion, but you can apply to go take the test and become certified elsewhere

Yeah I figured you would still have to test. I am thinking about it and working as a cna on weekends only, and leaving my job in retail, cause once school starts I will only be working weekends anyway.

Just wanted to say, I found this extremely helpful! Just took my TEAS today, hopefully I'll get that interview! It was very difficult! I scored well above the program mean thank goodness!

Im also starting the program on March 14th! & i also have my associates and plan on going through the LPN-RN program right after. My best friend is currently in the PT program and i believe she graduates in November also!! Shes helped me a lot through this whole process and im pretty sure when we start they will inform us of everything that's needed. I have to go uniform shopping soon she told me about a store in Clermont. Clinical's will be Mon-Wed and i believe we have class Thur & Fri. It shouldn't be too bad just some dedication and studying a few hours. She still has a normal life. It'll be a little more tough for us because its full time but shouldn't be that bad.

That's great! I am ready to start! I have all my books, and purchased a littmann classic II stethoscope. I have also heard the same about the clinicals being Mon-Wed, with class on Thurs-Fri. There is a uniform store in Clermont, which is where i live, there is also one over in Leesburg, called Lake Uniforms, and from what my friend who is an RN says, they give a student discount, not sure about the one here in Clermont though!

I believe the one in Clermont gives student discount also. I'm heading there today to see what they have. I heard that there's a Dickie's brand of scrubs which aren't see through. I'm hoping they have some there that I can buy! I will let you know.

Hi! I start my Lake Tech fell-time evening LPN program in March as well =] I am very excited and the thread has become useful. Hope to see you guys in school. Thanks for the advice

Well that's great! Not too much longer!
