2013 UF Accelerated BSN Applicants!

U.S.A. Florida

HiEveryone!

I am gatorguy3380, and I am planning on applying to the UF Accelerated BSNprogram beginning in 2013! I have been steadily working my way through my prerequisites and am studying for my GRE as we speak. I have been eyeing thisprogram for a while and have found that this thread is a great way to shareexpectations and successes for those pursuing entrance into this prestigiousprogram.

So it seems like everyone on here likes to know each other's "stats."So since I seem to be the originator here you go! I have a BS from FlaglerCollege in St. Augustine that I received 6 years ago. My GPA from my last 60was 3.55. I have completed Human Nutrition, Statistics, Human Growth andDevelopment, and A&P 1, all with A's. My overall college GPA is just a hairover a 3.0. I am currently in Micro and plan on taking A&P II in the springjust prior to admission. I am 32, a male, and used to be a law enforcementofficer. I feel that with a combination of my academics and my personalexperiences, with a solid GRE score (which I haven't taken yet) and stay ontrack with my pre-reqs I stand a good chance of getting in!

Just because I posted my info, there is no need to post yours. I like the ideaof meeting some of my future cohorts on this life course change and createdthis tread so that we could all find a sense of comfort in a tiny sharedcommunity! Good luck to all and I will enjoy interacting with you here!

A lot of people have signed at Williamsburg Village. I haven't seen it but its apparently close to the CON. I only went to Gainesville Place and signed there. However, they don't allow dogs. I hear the Woodlands is also really nice but a little pricier

Ps. Congratulations!!

Pps. You should join the Facebook group! About half of our class is on it already :)

Thanks for the feedback kitty! I will join the Facebook group! Looking forward to meeting everyone.

Welcome, jam! I'm excited to meet everyone in the next month or so! I don't live in Gainesville anymore but when I did, I lived on 62nd Blvd. by Oaks Mall. I liked the area because it was near a lot of things, and most complexes weren't brand new, but well-kept which kept the costs down. Buses run down 62nd or from the mall (a 5 min walk from where I stayed) though I don't remember how many go towards the CON. It's about 5-6 miles from there, but I didn't want to be right on campus so it was perfect. I lived at Fairmont Oaks, which should be pet friendly, though I think they have a weight and breed limit which always bothered me. Other than that, we were happy there and got a good price for rent with sign-on specials and stuff. I also had a friend that lived at Courtney Greens on 20th before 34th and she seemed to like it. I'm also on the Facebook group if you have any other questions.

Have any of you heard whether or not they will be accepting anymore people from the waitlist?

Has anyone had any luck finding a CPR course?

Gatorguy have you been to the Facebook group? Some discussion on that on our page. If not, many people seem to be doing ones from Express Training in Gainesville.

Have any of you heard whether or not they will be accepting anymore people from the waitlist?

I don't know but I can tell you that they have begun sending out info on the per-registration stuff we need to get done (background checks, CPR, immunizations). Don't know if that means anything for you, though. Good luck with your other applications! It often takes people many tries to get in somewhere, so don't be discouraged!

Hi all,

I know this is early, but I am in the process of starting my 2014 application for the UF & Shands ABSN program. Anyone else looking at a 2014 start date?

Hi Leroy, I will be if I don't get off the waitlist. We should start a new thread.

That's a good sign if your at list on the wait list. When did you sent your app vs when they told you you're on the waitlist?

And yes, lets start a new thread.

I submitted my app around december 15th which was the deadline, and I found out about the waitlist at the end of March- I highly doubt I'm getting off of it, so I'm going to take a year off to get some work experience.
