2013 UF Accelerated BSN Applicants!

U.S.A. Florida

HiEveryone!

I am gatorguy3380, and I am planning on applying to the UF Accelerated BSNprogram beginning in 2013! I have been steadily working my way through my prerequisites and am studying for my GRE as we speak. I have been eyeing thisprogram for a while and have found that this thread is a great way to shareexpectations and successes for those pursuing entrance into this prestigiousprogram.

So it seems like everyone on here likes to know each other's "stats."So since I seem to be the originator here you go! I have a BS from FlaglerCollege in St. Augustine that I received 6 years ago. My GPA from my last 60was 3.55. I have completed Human Nutrition, Statistics, Human Growth andDevelopment, and A&P 1, all with A's. My overall college GPA is just a hairover a 3.0. I am currently in Micro and plan on taking A&P II in the springjust prior to admission. I am 32, a male, and used to be a law enforcementofficer. I feel that with a combination of my academics and my personalexperiences, with a solid GRE score (which I haven't taken yet) and stay ontrack with my pre-reqs I stand a good chance of getting in!

Just because I posted my info, there is no need to post yours. I like the ideaof meeting some of my future cohorts on this life course change and createdthis tread so that we could all find a sense of comfort in a tiny sharedcommunity! Good luck to all and I will enjoy interacting with you here!

Nope. Nothing. I tried to go talk to Ken on Friday, but he was out of the office until Monday. I know he has walk in hours today, but I don't want to be too pushy.

When I got my letter in the mail over spring break I immediately called and spoke with him. I was told that those who were offered acceptance need to confirm by March 18. He said around the 25th they would start pulling people off the waitlist. Since the list isn't "ranked" I assume this requires the committee to look at our apps again. I know that the CON is in the process of hiring a new dean, and with Ken out of the office maybe that's the hold up?

Idk I'm trying to be patient, but I would like to have an idea of how long the list is, what my chances are of getting off it, or if I need to make other plans :/

Everyone post if you find out any info and/or get off the list! Good luck. Breathe. It's gonna be ok

Hey all,

Sorry I never posted back before, I was too bummed. I was denied admission...and after a lot of thought I decided to petition. I just found out today that I was put on the waitlist...I'm really hoping a spot opens up.

Congrats to all...and to all who heard about the waitlist today!

I got a call from Ken around noon.... I've been taken off the wait list!!!

I'm so excited and relieved. Can't wait to start this program!

Hope everyone else hears soon :)

I was also offered a spot! I can't wait for the letter to get here. :)

Congrats! Join the Facebook group :)

Hey everyone! I was also put on the wait list (bummed at first), but then offered a spot yesterday(yay)! I am so excited and can't wait to officially receive a letter in the mail. Do you know if there is anything we need to start doing to get a jump start in the process since we just found out? I'm nervous and don't want to be behind already!

Congrats! I am not sure. I have been looking into it because I am trying to prepare too. I tried to register for classes, but it wouldn't let me. I am working on getting financial aid for summer, so that might be something to look into. :yeah:

Oh yes I will look into it. Thanks! I also joined the FB group too

Whats the name of the fb group?

The name of the group is UF ABSN class of 2014 :)

Hi I'm James and I'm new to the site! I have been reading the comments and I just found out last week that I was accepted to the absn program. I'm originally from Nottingham England and came to the states in 2005 to play college golf in Oklahoma where I earned my BS in Organismic Biology. I'm so excied to meet you all! I have a dog and so we won't be staying on campus but I was wondering where everyone is planning to stay or if anyone can recommend some apartments that aren't too pricey!

Congrats to everyone else who has been accepted
