puerto rico to miami fl. nclex!!!!

im taking the nclex in puerto rico on july 15th....

i wanted to know if anyone knows of any agencies that offer housing or temporary housing or maybe job placement or something like that????

can you tell me more about the rn in puerto rico? is it really accredited? are hospital giving placements to those with a liscence of puerto rico?

I am an American born of Cuban parents. I also just passed my NCLEX on July 26, 2011. It saddens me to see now that I am looking for work, How non-english speaking hispanics (Mainly Cubans and Puerto Ricans) go to Puerto Rico to take a nursing course in spanish and an NCLEX in spanish. They then get on the plane to Miami and get exploited by hospitals down here. They are happy with it cause in Puerto Rico nor Cuba would they ever make $17 and $18 an hour. However, For those of us that have been raised here and pay taxes and speak english---we are shunned cause they can't low ball us, as they do them. So now--I have come to the sad realization--That I'm not wanted as a new nurse in my home town---Because like always---some under qualified non-english speaking person found a way around the system. Then when we are shunned by native born Americans because we change everything to our under qualified ways---we get mad. I am a Cuban descendent, but I will be the first to tell you, Miami has become a luxurious third world country---A ghetto superstar of sorts---If you are a new grad---stay away from South Florida!!!!! They don't want you if you speak english and if your not willing to take less!!! If you look at the census you will notice that more and more Native born Cuban-Americans are leaving in hoards out of this disaster that we call Miami---I wouldn't be surprised if in the near future they try and vote to secede from the union---We are literally the armpit of the country for a lack of a better word....When you see people in this post--Talking about going to Puerto Rico to get licensed and this Sorry, Sorry state of Florida accepts it---you know something is terribly wrong. I guarantee you 95% of them can't pass an English 101 exam----They only know how to cut corners---that's why Miami is the way it is---another third world country---Excuse me while I translate---Lo unico que saben hacer es cortar esquinas---por eso Miami esta como esta---hecha otro pais tercer mundista!!!!

I guess you are not mad. Heck your even asking for more information about NCLEX in P.R.---I guess you make my point very well.

NewGradRaul, let me explain to you that PR DOES NOT have a NCLEX they have their own exam. FL ONLY accepts a PR license if you have three years of expirience. Under qualified???? ummm no they are not. There are many professionals in PR but due to the economy and crime many people do not see that. Oh and they do not get UNDER PAID I know PLENTY of nurses from PR that went to FL and are getting paid $25 plus. So I suggest you get your information sorted out before you disgrace Puerto Ricans and cubans. I'm getting my degree in PR as well as MANY other AMERICAN students and we will ALL be sitting down to take the NCLEX.

One more thing, if they were so "under qualified" then the NLNAC would not renew their accreditation when it comes time to do so. The bilingual program at my school as a 90% pass rate for the NCLEX which can only be taken in english =]

Very ignorant. Why would someone agree to work for less than the prevailing wage? With 3 years of experience a nurse will be in great demand. If you are unable to get a job as a new grad, I would suggest broadening your area of search, or looking outside the hospital setting. Other posters have mentioned that jobs are more plentiful in Texas or in settings such as dialysis centers. Instead of blaming foreigners, look to the hospitals that are squeezed by the lousy economy and are unable to spend $30,000 plus to train a new grad only to see them jump ship to another hospital soon afterward...

NewGradRaul all the new grads are in the same boat. No one can find a job. I know people who are moving to TX and AK just to get their first job.

And don't put Cuba in the same category as Puerto Rico. I go to school on Puerto Rico with Jeb and Jen in an English program and I don't speak a word of Spanish. Puerto Rico is a US territory. Cuba is a communist developing country on the complete oposite spectrum as Puerto Rico.

When you take the NCLEX here you choose which state you want to sit for because Puerto Rico does not require the NCLEX.

Don't blame your problems on Puerto Rico. You can't find a job because people are not hiring new grads.

Oh and I went to school here because in CA I compete with 1,500 other students for 1 of 60 slots at each school or shell out 55,000 per year for a private school. So in Puerto Rico it is 10,000 a year and no waiting list. And I get to live on a beautiful island.

There are many schools in Puerto Rico that are highly qualified and 100% english speaking.

I can believer what I'm hearing I'm Cuban living in Puerto Rico I did my bachelors degree here and my master both accredited in the USA , I haver 10 years of experience and no problem getting a job in south Florida , the reason why you are not getting a job is because you are a new grad !!! Pay your dues first please and by the way here in Puerto Rico people speak English is an American territory
