Hey everyone! Im new to this site and im hoping i can find people to relate! I just started my 1st job at a nursing home. I have been there 1 month and im now working alone. I have 20 residents on my hall. I am so nervous and anxious before every shift! I feel like i dont know enough and i worry so much about how the shift is gonna go! I worry about when i should or shouldnt call a doctor and i dread the times where something comes up and i dont know what to do! im working 3 to 11p right now, but to make things worse, someone is on vacation this week and i have to work 7a -7p 3 days this week on the skilled unit. I only got 2 days of training on that unit. How am i gonna survive 12 hours for 3 days!!! Im a nervous anxious wreck and cant wait for this week to just be over with!!

I am in the same boat as you right now, but im on a acute care unit. I feel like the most incompetent nurse walking... and i know the other staff members poke fun at me because Im new.. like THEY'VE never been there. its like some sick and twisted initiation. Ive been crying all morning to go into my 3-11 shift. Looking like an idiot once again and forgetting things. I forgot to log my meds last night :( complete failure.

No! Not complete failure! Don't be so hard on yourself. Hugs to all!:nurse::up:
