I applied to a lot of hospitals nearest my location just before thanksgiving and until now i havent received any reply or call from recruiters. I am a new grad with no experience who applied for new grad training program and educated outside the US. Im getting depressed now. How many days or weeks before they call u for an interview?

Sometimes a few weeks pass before you hear back from these hospitals, unless you applied for a position that they need to fill right away.

Specializes in Med/Surg, Ortho.

Nothing says you can contact them again and ask for a meeting with their nurse recruiter. Call..Those offices love voice mail. But at least they know you are intrested and may even call you back.

Never submit a resume/application without following through afterward.

Don't get depressed. Just give them a call. Chances are the hospitals are getting flooded with applications from new grads.

If you call just to make sure they have your app. - all of the sudden your app is on the top of the pile.

Recruiters get lots of resumes and applications each day. Give them a call. If you haven't done so, follow up with a thank you e-mail or letter.

I was sort of in your shoes. I am also a new graduate (May 2004). I'm also educated outside of the U.S. From my experience, some hospitals won't talk to you until you have set up or have made plans to write the NCLEx-RN. Are you licensed?

I know all the waiting really sucks. Hang in there! =)

Hi nclex care bear. yes i passed the nclex already. Im from philippines by the way :p

Hi ustegrl! Are you in the U.S. right now? Have you moved?

I live in Canada. I came to the U.S. in early November to write the NCLEX-RN. I passed! =)

(second week of November) I attended a few job fairs. I wrote thank you e-mails to the people I met with that day.

(Nov. 20 something) I got calls back from human resources people from various hospitals . I met with a few nurse managers as well.

(end of Nov.) human resources called back with job offers. I decided which unit I wanted to work on.

(today) Received an offical job offer letter.

That's a brief time line of things went for me after attending a few job fairs. Yeah...there was alot of waiting for me as well. For the past week or so, I called human resources almost everyday regarding the job offer letter. I needed it for housing purposes.

My job offer still depends on my references and health screening. If all goes well, I will move to the U.S in early January and start work in the middle of January. =)

I wish you all the best.
