Nurses New Nurse

Hello all. just reading different threads and wondering what does the starting salary look like for a grad nurse? i live the in Atlanta area so any ball park figure will do. thanks!

in mobile alabama new grad salaries range from 15 to 19 base rate. i make 19.25 :) plus 3 dollars shift diff for nights. i notice i don't make as much as some other areas of the country but my cost of living is low.

Hello, I was reading your post and I recently graduated from LPN school in December and my husband wants to move back to Mobile because that is where he is from and my inlaws live there. I was going to go to RN school here but if we move to Mobile then I will have to go there. I receive a job offer from Kindred Healthcare. Do you know of any good facilities there I know Providence and Mobile Infirmary is there. Do you have any suggestions and what are the good nursing programs for RN. I know there is USA and Bishop State. I know the cost of living is not that bad in Mobile. Do you like Mobile, I like it when we come to visit but that is a difference from living there. I love Florida it is so beautiful especially down by Miami and Tampa area but I do not know what the cost of living is there. I heard it is very expensive deep south of Florida. I appreciate any input. :)

north fla the average is 17-19$ central fl is a little better but not much. if you want tomake money then you need to move to tampa, miami, or palm beach. the thing about north fl though is the cost of living. I know adn's with experience who are making $100,000 a year as DON's and Risk managers. you can get a really nice house for about 200,000$ or a decent one for 100,000$. lots of good hospitals too, especially in Gainesville, Tampa, Miami, Jacksonville, Orlando. If you tell me a general area I could give you more info.

Hi Compassionate Nurse, I am considering moving to Bonita Spring or maybe Tampa where my mother is can you give me any info. You are welcome to email me at [email protected]. Thanks a lot in advance.

Hey,

I live in Ohio. I just started the interview process and so far I've been offered 22/hour plus benefits up to 26/hour plus benefits. I'm taking the latter one, plus they said they'd pay off my school loans!!

hope that helps

Carrie

may i ask which hospital in akron ?

I was wondering about LPN's salaries in the west? I am a little worried about paying off all these loans and all the work I have put in? Is there a light at the end of the tunnel? I love my patients but I have to be practical too.

I've just started interviewing for positions after I graduate in May. Within a 50 mile radius the wages range from 16.20 - 19.30 (no differentials included in those)

Differentials varied from 1.80 - 3.85

Upstate NY, taxed to death- both school and land . Gas @ $2.25 (regular) and going up everyday, it seems, etc., etc., etc.

Once I have gained some experience I hope to move as far from here as possible

I'm getting worried. what about Idaho and Utah? also, are there jobs out there, I heard some are having problems finding jobs. Anybody? How is IHC to work for?

You probably want to pose that question to the Idaho and Utah nurses forums. They could probably tell you.

I was hoping to move to Houston TX after I graduate. Can anyone tell me how much a nurse makes out there?

If you post it to the Texas nurses forum (yes, they have one for each state) you would probably get a better response.

 i graduate with lpn school in six weeks. salaries around here (upstate ny) range from $14-$18 an hour plus shift/weekend differential. per diem makes a little more. it depends on where you are considering working. a hospital pays on the lower side (~$14/hr.) while the county and state hospitals as well as the ltc and assisted living facilities will pay more. :coollook: good luck and congrats on your brand new career! however, i wanted to give you a more accurate picture for your area, so here is a cut and paste from www.salary.com for chicago. licensed practical nurse 25th%ile median 75th%ile indicator_original.gifchicago, il $38,049 $39,912 $43,066

I've been interviewing as well. I had already planned on staying at the hospital where I'm now interning, but I wanted to see what else was available out there. I've been to four other places, and they all offered me a position and more money. (Maybe its the black suits and my dashing smile :D). Seriously, I was shocked that the next lowest offer I received was $6 more per hour than what my current employer is offering to GNs! The main reason I'm thinking about staying is because this is the only place that I know (so far) of that will hire me as a GN in the ICU, and I need at least a couple years ICU experience before I can apply to CRNA school. Still, $6 an hour adds up to around $12,000 a year, and that's a pretty big sacrifice for anyone to make.

I know I should be looking into other hospitals that offer ICU positions to new RNs, but I feel comfortable where I am, and I think it will be a good place to gain the experience I need, even though the pay is cheap. Is this stupid?

Tony, if it works for you........it's not stupid. You do what you think is best...for you...don't worry about whether someone else agrees with your choices or not. I wish you well whatever your decision. :)
