Review course???????

well here i am all excited that i actually have my first nursing job lined up, and i'm really confused. i don't want to start my new job only to fail my nclex and be really embarassed. i already bought three books so far and study them 2-3 hours a day five days a week. i feel like if i take a review course, then it will furthur influence me to pass my nclex.the only downside is the nclex review course is almost 600.00!!!!! i am in the process of moving and am really short on money. my school has had a pass rate of 100% for the last five years and i am convinced i will be the one to toss that up!!!! so what do you guys recommend i do, suck it up and take the course (which is five days a week for 8 hours, meaning i would have to leave my current job sooner as well) so i feel more confident, or just push myself individually because it supprts my 'saving money lifestyle'. i'm so confused............xoxo

you sound like you're disciplined enough to do it on your own from the way you describe your study habits. if you feel that a review course will help you more than studying on your own then you should really consider doing it. i, personally, only took 1 review course and that was a semester before graduation back in december. i, unlike most of my fellow classmates, decided not to take another one after graduation and i still passed nclex. if you feel you'll get something out of a review that you can't get studying on your own then you should do a review. if not, then you should save your money and continue to do what you're doing. i didn't think my last review was worth the money i spent for it. the materials we got were very useful, but all she did was read from the book and make us do questions. i do know how to read on my own and i can do questions without a chaperone, so i said i wasn't doing it again. i'm thankful the hospital i'll be working for reimbursed me. will your job reimburse? good luck in whatever you decide! :)

If you feel you need to do a review course, there are definately many out there that do not cost $600.00. Hurst, for one is a lot cheeper. I believe it's $250 for a live review, I think $200 for an online review. It's awesome and I have yet to hear any negative experiences from there review. www.hurstreview.com is their website. People are always raving about their review, including me. So, if you feel you may need a review then I would definately recommend this one. Good luck to you!! :)

I'm not sure. I did the live review where they traveled to my school. I'm thinking the video review might be a lot like the online review but not sure. If you e-mail them, they're really good about getting back with you. If I were you, I'd probably contact them. Good luck! :)
