question from a non-recent new grad...

ive got a packet here from a new grad program requirements ina a certain hospital, and they emphasize here that they only accept RECENT new grad, those who graduated 6-12months prior to start of the program...

since i graduated 2009, should i still complete this application?

this is what consists of their application:

RN RESIDENCY PROGRAM APPLICATION

Program for RECENT RN GRADUATES

(i.e. within 6months to one year prior to the start of the RN Residency Program)

i want to hear your views...

Well, they do specify clearly that the program is limited to those who graduated 6-12 months ago ... 2009 is a lot longer ago than that.

noooo why should you let it go? first of all you have nothing to lose if you do apply...second I would write a very "nice " letter ...you need to make it so you draw attention to your application explaining why you should be given a chance even though you graduated 2009...make yourself stand out...come out with an unique way to do it.....call them if you have to...go in person and meet with them etc

anyway in the end you only have to gain if you do apply....so do not let it go...you just never know

I would defiantly apply and write a letter like laura06baby was saying. Let them know why you took the time off and how much you care about their hospital and the position. A GN should be defined by experience not necessarily a graduation date. If you never apply you will be in the same boat as if you apply and get rejected so you might as well try:) Good luck!

Hi chillceb, I also applied in a New Grad program in a hospital in our state. I was in for an interview and told me that they only accept applicants who graduated less than a year ago but they did told me that they could accept me as a Staff Nurse in one of their unit. I don't have a job yet because my license is in California and I'm from a different state. They did told me to forward them my license number once I could work in our state [when the board of nursing here released my temporary/permanent license]

There's no harm in trying. I think you should still go for it. Goodluck! :D
