Parkland Critical Care Nurse Residency Sept 2012

Nurses New Nurse

Published

Hi all,

I'm somewhat new to this forum. I applied to Parkland's MICU and SICU residency. I've already received the email saying my apps were forwarded to the hiring manager. I'm looking for any info on what the hiring process is like, far as, how long after receiving the email did you get an interview and also any info on how the residency works. My dream is either to get into the ED or one of the critical care areas. I know this would be a great opportunity to be employed at a Level I trauma center. Any advice, tips, connections and info would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

That's great to hear about the ED! For everyone who checks out this thread, it is nice to have a timeline for the ED interviews.

Come on ICU.......... :yelclap:

They'll probably start the ICU interviews soon. The residencies start at the end of September. I've heard that the getting on there is a pretty long process. I applied for everything that I could. Hopefully everyone starts hearing from them soon

I applied to Parklands Labor and Delivery Residency for September. I had an interview on Monday, I think it went well, but I guess whether I get a call or not will really tell how it went! They did not email about the interview, they called. They said I may hear something in approximately a week and if not it's acceptable to give them a call. So, I'm with you guys in the waiting game. I didn't ask how many L&D positions were available, but I'm hoping there are more than a few. Until then I'm trying not to compulsively check my email and run to the phone.

I had my ER interview yesterday. It's hard to judge how it went given they are in 15 min increments. It's out of my hands now do all I can do is wait. I'm officially diagnosing myself with OCD lol. I'm obsessively and compulsively checking my emails and phone every 10 mins lol. But all in all wishing everyone who has heard back, will be interviewing or still waiting impatiently the best of luck in these upcoming weeks.

So was it like a "you have 15 minutes to impress us" type of thing?

I called the recruitment department at Parkland today asking when they would begin to call for ICU interviews and they basically said they don't know.

Yeah that's pretty much how it was. First impression in 15 mins or less. Even one of the nurses that did the interview was like is kind of chaotic trying to do a 15 min interview. I haven't heard anything far as any of the ICU interviews as of yet. The residency starts 9/24 so that's still gives them some time. They won't give you hardly any info in the recruitment office and they won't let you talk directly to the recruiters and it's hard to find out exactly which recruiters are over what areas. But if I hear anything I'll post it on here

Were there any situational questions? How many people interviewed you?

I actually interviewed with 3 people and was told normally the educator sits in on the interview so it could be up to 4 during the panel interview. It was general interview questions but they each asked on of the questions off of this form they had in front oft them. I'm not sure if the questions are based off of your personal experience. When are you interviewing with them.

I'm interviewing on monday...
