Paranoia about losing license

I'm a new nurse. Is it normal to be always paranoid about losing my license... forgetting to do something and thinking that the ultimate consequence is the loss of the license I worked so hard for??

Honestly, it's not something that is running through my head day after day. I think that too many of us think that ANY thing will cause our states BON to yank our license when that really isn't the case. It takes a pretty big error to cause loss of license or really bad personal decisions like diverting Rx's for personal use.

Try to make that thought take a back seat so you can focus on being the great nurse you've worked so hard to become!

Read your practice acts. As long as you stay within your scope of practice and don't do anything illegal you should not worry about your license. I know in school they may have used that as a scare tactic. Everyone makes mistakes, they are learning opportunities not grounds for license revocation. Don't focus on the negative. Focus on keeping your patients safe and always documenting correctly. Good luck!
