I have accepted my first position on the night shift. I start in 3 weeks. What do you do to survive the night shift? When you sleep? How do you prepare? What's your schedule like? Thanks!

Did you not like the answers you got on your other post asking for advice about starting night shift? There are countless threads on this site with advice for how to survive night shift, try a quick search.

I couldn't find any! How do I search them! Thanks!

Up at the top right of your screen, above your account box and just below the yellow header is a keyword search box. Type "night shift survival" into that and then click SEARCH. You'll have a VERY long list of threads and posts to peruse.

It's much better to do a keyword search when you're looking for fairly common information. Night shift survival is one of those things that almost every nurse wants to know about. Another such topic is how to prepare for the various licensing exams. Yet another is what to expect from orientation. There's a lot of sharing going on here. Find your niche and jump in.

I work a day/night 12 hour shift schedule. Before the first night I stay up all night and then sleep the next day. I start at 1930 so I get up about 1800 and shower, pack some food and leave for work. When I come home I eat and go to bed.I some times wake up briefly around noon but I go back to sleep. I nap on my break at work. I eat veggies at work and take something for protein like hard boiled eggs.
