The only dead people I'm afraid of are the ones I may have missed something while they weren't dead that lead them to thier current state of deadness. I don't mind dead bodies, I just try hard not to be the one that makes them dead. When someone developes sudden onset deadness it's always such a dissapointment for the docs, the families and most likely the person themselves (although I've never gotten any complaints). Here's hoping you never see enough dead people in your practice to get used to it.

I think that most people are scared of things like dead people at first.... But once you get used to dead people and realize that it's just a body, you will see it differently. It is sad when people die, but once you feel what it feels like to help someone die with dignity or just hold their hand when they don't have anyone else there you will get over it. I had the same fear of dead people getting up and grabbing me a couple years ago, but now I can even do post mortem care by myself.....I was even able to accompany my own grandfather when he died and that is the greatest honor. Sooo please please if you really want to be a nurse don't let this fear get in your way!!! Also remember fear usually comes when you don't understand something and once you learn more about death and the process and see a death, I really think you will understand better and have less fear..... goood luck!! Thanks Jessica :specs:. I really hope that I'll get to the point of thinking dead people are just part of life and I should not dwell over it. I don't want to think about it because to be honest, it is so stressful for me... Could you beleive it that I AM SCARED OF MY OWN HOUSE:banghead:...I'm totally scared of being alone in the house thinking I'll see something unusual and weird. So, I do think I need help mentally. I should seek proffesional help.

when you see dead people it isn't in the morgue (you take them there), so it isn't like movies you see of pulling bodies out of the fridge and such.

I don't mind dead people. A lot of times it is actually kinda cool. Most of the ones that I have seen die had a lot wrong with them and they really did look at peace. They very obviously "aren't there" anymore. So in a way there are some I have felt glad for.

Now kids dying and random traumas are not cool. Somehow that makes me much more emotional, but still not scary bodies. Just a lot sadder.
