Anyone taken the GRE test?

I'm getting ready to graduate nursing school and applying to grad schools. I was wondering who has taken the GRE test and what prep program you used, how you did. Any input is appreciated. Kaplan is recommended but it's almost $1,000! Yikes!

I took the GRE several years ago. I used an ARCO book and did the practice tests, timed, until I couldn't see. I'd take a break, then come back and start up again. I did that for a week.

I got a 1210 total score.

I think the ARCO book was about $15. Might be a little more now.

Thanks again Gen! It's good to know what other people's experiences have been in accounting for transcripts that are less than straightforward. I think the letter I sent in was good. Short, straightforward and not apologetic, like you said! :) I would rather have had the chance to explain the situation in an interview- because I didn't want to make more if it than was there, you know? I really hope it won't be a strike against me. I'm actually feeling pretty zen about the whole process right now. There is really nothing more I can do- I'm either in or not and it's out of my hands now! :)
