Hi all!

I finished my ADN with EC (graduated November 2015) and immediately started work on my BSN (passed NCLEX fist try Jan 5). I registered as an unenrolled student for the Writing for the Professions course and the Stats for HCP course. As soon as my license posted to the BON, I called and enrolled (I was not an EC student for a grand total of a month and a half :p ).

My goal is to be done with the BSN program by the end of next summer's term (So August 2017). Anyone else on here that has recently started the RN to BSN at EC? Maybe we can take some courses together! I'm on the facebook groups but figured I would post here too :)

Yes, I think I am going to take Intro to Informatics for Nurses. I am also continuing with my 2 15 week classes (Stats and Writing for the Professions). I have the approval for the Intro to Informatics class, but I haven't registered for it yet.

I'm taking those two courses right now too! Maybe were in the same class. I was thinking about doing the intro to informatics also, but the stats and Eng class are SO time consumming I think i'm going to wait. I'm also considering Capella's new Flex-Path program. After taking the two online classes this semester I found out i'm not a fan of the whole disscusions thing. It's very time consumming. Capella's program is just the student and professor. The prof assigns the work, you do it, turn it in and that's it. Seems like it might go quicker. And, you pay $2500 every 12 weeks, do as much work as you want in the 12 weeks, might be less money too.

You can PM me if you want to find out if we're in the same sections :) I am leaning on taking Intro to Informatics because there are no papers, 55% of the grade is discussion board posts, there are 2 quizzes worth 15% each and then there is one case study post (where you're given the scenario but answer questions about it) that is the final 15%. Sounds really doable.

oh and about Capella, I think they do the proficiency grading scale that does where the highest grade you can earn is a B. I don't want to do that. Not sure where the future may take me so I want a true GPA :)

I was thinking about that when I saw a flexpath commercial the other night — I thought it might be a similar model.

The advisor I spoke with at Capella did say that they will convert your grade to a GPA if you need them too. I'm stilling trying to decide between the two. The informatics class sounds doable, would be nice to get one of the nursing classes out of the way.

I believe in a competency based program, when they convert your GPA they just give you a 3.0 (B) average as long as you passed the classes.

I'm pretty sure you are correct. At this point I'm committed to EC. It may take a little longer and be more time consuming but that's ok :)
