RN to BSN online with Excelsior or Chamberlain?

Hi All! I am currently working on passing nclex, but have been looking into online bsn program that is pretty fast. Chamberlain seems ok, you can finish it in a year. I have a friend that is currently enrolled there since January and so far she recommends it. I have read reviews on different schools, but still researching more recommendations.

Any input on this school or others will be much appreciated thanks in advance :)

Each one has its pros and cons. I started out with Chamberlain, because they did not have a writing requirement that had to be completed. I returned to EC when Chamberlain would not accept my statistics. (There was no way I could repeat stats)! I would review all of the credits that I have if I were you, and determine how many of those credits fulfill the requirements, and go from there. Had I taken my sciences with lab components, I would have gone through . There are those who, with drive and determination, complete the BSN within 6 months there. Good luck with such an important decision....ultimately, it is yours.

Bsnintgeworks can you tell me where you go for rn to BSN program I wants to do that bcoz my friend told me that Exceladvisor is good enough to go online

Hi! I'm completing my BSN with Excelsior College. The program is very doable and I believe ANYONE would enjoy it and be successful with it...the course instructors are very helpful with the instructions and any questions you may have..

They have fast track bcoz I m rn from India and I got Lpn license from ny what I have to do

Contact Excelsior College if you want to do their RN program; you should be eligible as an LPN. http://www.excelsior.edu

Mesiam, I did my RN-BSN through Chamberlain. I had 206 credits going in, and they went further with Chamberlain than anywhere else. The downside to Chamberlain is that it is super expensive; if I hadn't had great tuition reimbursement with my employer, I would have gone elsewhere. I would recommend looking at your state schools first - so many universities have online RN-BSN programs now, and in-state tuition would be much better than what you'd pay for Chamberlain or EC's RN-BSN programs. I am doing my MSN through Excelsior, but as an active duty Army nurse, I get a huge break in tuition so it's not so bad. But for the BSN, they wanted me to take something like 40 credits, compared to Chamberlain's 32. Having 206 credits already, I wanted the shorter route.

Other schools that looked awesome to me were University of Wisconsin-Green Bay (http://www.bsnlinc.wisconsin.edu/ - that was actually my first runner-up) and Slippery Rock University (http://www.sru.edu/academics/colleges/ches/nursing/Pages/RNtoBSN.aspx). I made myself a spreadsheet of programs with info like accreditation (regional and national) and tuition costs so I could keep them all straight. Helped me narrow it down and choose. :)

Thank you all, I will look into the other options. My only other questions is, I would think since you get an RN from Excelsior, there should not be any extra classes required to take other than the ones needed for the BSN? btw-I do have my sciences with labs

You might have to take some upper-level courses to satisfy certain requirements - everything for the ADN is lower level. EC used to do a courtesy evaluation of credits for ADN grads, not sure if they do that anymore. Might be worth asking.

I did the chamberlain RN to BSN a while ago. I loved it. They have tuition discounts for military and for different memberships in organizations. I honestly would recommend the program to anyone...my husband is going to be doing it in a couple of years.
