Practice test for ECEs

Nursing Students Excelsior

Hey guys! I have been told that before you study, take part A of the practice tests, then when you feel ready and before you take the actual exam, take part B. My question is if the study guides and rationales to the answers are a good way to study? Do the questions on the practice tests relate to the study guide? Thanks!

what study guide are you talking about?

I purchased the exams for every nursing class and micro, they were mostly helpful. I didn't use that method though, I basically went over them until I had them memorized.

I guess when I say Study Guide I meant to say Content Guide that EC has on their website for every class

I was told that the practice tests that cost $75 are extremely helpful and if possible, to buy them for each course and study. I was just wondering if anyone just studied what was on the practice test part A & B and knew the rationales for the answers? I didn't know if that was sufficient to pass the actual exams.

So what was your strategy on passing all the exams?

oh I see. my buddy used the exams exclusively and passed all except the last 2 or 3. then he used study group 101 which I used for the entire program.

Ok cool...I am thinking that's what I'm going to try...thanks!

While the practice exams are a great tool, they shouldn't be the only materials you use to study for the actual test.

Taking the first practice exam (form A) will give you an idea of what you already know, and what areas you need to focus on as you use the study materials you have, be it text books, TCN study guides or Study group 101 materials. After you have studied, take form B about 1-2 weeks prior to your testing date. You should see an improvement in your score, and it will tell you where you might need to spend some last minutes study time prior to your test date.

This has worked well for me so far, but as always, your mileage may vary.

I agree with LPNBear... NO WAY would I only use the practice exams to study from! You might pass... MIGHT... but there is no way you would thoroughly know the material!!

Practice exams are a great tool... I have purchased them for every exam (6 so far... Micro and 5 Nursing) and will do so to the bitter end!! It is essential to know not only why the right answer is right but why the wrong answers are wrong. Be sure and know every item in the Content Guides, too...

Whatever study guides you use.... all the textbooks, College Network, SG101... use the practice exams as another resources. Some of the questions on the real exam are the same, some are similar.

GOOD LUCK!!
