Hello. I want to start Rue for LPN to RN. I live in Ohio so do I take my test and get my license in Ohio or do I have to get it where ever Excelsior is? Rue states that they are the only program approved by Excelsior. Is that true?Is this a good program or should I try another one? I get so much stuff in the mail! I don't know which one to go to. How about Distance Learning Center? They don't give you the whole textbooks but I can meet face-to-face once a week with an instructor. Has anyone done that one? I am trying to figure out which one I should go through. Any advice?

the distance learning forum has a few threads on the subject. personally i found it a bit less :twocents:just to go through excelsior itself and not any third parties. at least that way you know that you are getting the most current content requirements for each of the exams. here's a good link to some very helpful info when considering excelsior clollege. hope it helps.

You dont have to use Rue, save your money. I used Rue and found out that they dont supply all the info you need for the testing Excelsior require. Go on Excelsior web site and you can get all the books and testing info content you will need. Save your money!

There are many sources for free or lower cost study materials for the Excelsior nursing degree program. You can buy used study guides from the publishing companies, including Rue, on ebay as well as low cost study guides by studygroup101 and Lisa Arends. You can find free study material in the files sections of the Excelsior groups on Yahoo. You can find free flashcards on Excelsior nursing tests at http://www.flashcardexchange.com. You can get Rob's CPNE DVD for a reasonable price at http://www.RobsCPNE.com. I bought a few used study guides for The College Network and found them to be of poor quality; nothing I would be willing to pay $500 apiece for. Do yourself a favor and check out these resources before you commit yourself to a contract adding thousands of dollars onto your cost of receiving your Excelsior degree. You can find numerous threads on the subject of using the publishing companies on this site if you need convincing one way or the other. Check some of them out to see what others have to say about this. Good luck in your efforts to receive a degree in nursing from Excelsior College.

If you haven't signed up with Rue, DON'T. They totally misrepresent themselves. They will lie to you to get to you sign up. And when they sign you up for a program that you are not eligible for you are still stuck in the contract. Its only been 4 months since I signed up. I'm glad I found out now because I am stopping payments and fighting these liars and thieves tooth and nail.
