Hey there Excelsior MSN Grads,

I am nearing the end of Excelsior College's RN-MSN Informatics program, and I hope to take the Capstone course over the summer. I'm kind of nervous because I don't really know what to expect. Any Excelsior MSNs out there want to share their thoughts/experiences?

Hi- I'm in a similar boat. I'm taking Capstone this fall and I'm nervous as well.

It's not bad. There are the usual weekly discussion posts, a biweekly reflective journal, and you will submit your capstone project proposal form in Week 3. You will also keep a log of the hours you spend each week on your project, and then at the end there is a project abstract (you don't actually have to submit it anywhere, but just find an applicable call for abstracts and respond to it), a project paper, a project presentation (PowerPoint), and a recording of you presenting your project using your PowerPoint. You'll probably be using Adobe Connect for the presentation, and a word to the wise — get comfortable recording in Adobe Connect and figuring out how to share your presentation. We had more than a couple of people who waited until the last minute, and their presentations were late due to technical issues or user error.

The biggest hurdle is securing your project mentor and finding a project that you can essentially complete (most of it, at least) during the capstone course, really between Weeks 3 and 12 or 13.
