They will accept basic, intermediate, or college algebra. I highly recommend ALEKS for your math credit.

If you google it, you will get their website. They offer self-paced, online Math courses. I chose Beginning College Algebra, the first one on the 'ACE accredited' list. Excelsior accepted it... probably a good idea to double check with your adviser. Very inexpensive, and you should be able to complete it quickly!

Just passed the CPNE but it took a second try ! Happy to moving on the NCLEX, and would just like to recommend that anyone taking this route beware and don't take the CPNE lightly. I would recommend taking the conferences offered by EC for documentation & careplanning and give yourself a solid three months of studying every procedure you could be assigned to do & knowing your "critical elements" without even having to look a "grid". Excelisor isn't easy for sure, especially when you get to the CPNE but it can be done. :-)

Those who are in CA cannot gain licensure as an RN in CA either by examination or endorsement if their initial qualifying education was from Excelsior College.

The BVNPT has nothing to do with it as the BVNPT only licenses LVN's and psychiatric technicians.

There is no option to make up the clinical component that is required by CABRN/state regulations to be completed concurrently with the classroom portion in CA. Excelsior is a challenge exam based program with a final clinical performance exam at the completion of all the required classes & exams. It is not possible to have a challenge exam with a clinical component as it is simply not a part of the Excelsior College program and thus not acceptable as per the CA Board of Registered Nursing regulations.

If a CA resident gains an RN license in another state after successful completion of the Excelsior College LPN to ASN/RN program, they can work for a federal facility such as a VA hospital as federal facilities do not require a license in the state where the facility is located but just a valid US nursing license.
