Need a little HELP here!!!!!!!

  1. I am exhausted with hospital nursing (18 years) and need a change in my life. I had an epiphany moment at 0200 (trying to go to sleep)..why don't I go into "private duty nursing". Maybe put an ad in the paper for anyone needing help with med/diabetic management..perhaps help with ADL's or dressing changes. Is this as simple as it sounds to me? I read on another message about needing to be bonded & insured? What would this entail? What does being bonded exactly mean. (I'm an idiot when it comes to finances, my husband takes care of that). This would be private, so I would be unable to take Medicare. (right?). I know I would have to set-up some forms for documenations of assessments and interventions, but that won't be too bad.
I did try & find some info about this through the entrepeneural forums, but had no luck. So I thank you in advance, for ANY info you can enlighten me on? Take Care........

Bonded and Insured is a type of insurance to cover your liability against loss for the patient.

There are many issues that need to be discussed. It is not like being an employee, showing up for work, getting training from your company etc...

You need to form a business. It is best to start with local support. Please read through the stickies here on the Entrepreneurial Forum; you will find a wealth of information there. Start networking locally and see what is available in your community.

There ARE people providing private duty Nursing. There are many areas of Nursing that will allow you to be an Entrepreneur. You need to get some support and write a Business Plan. The above questions you have asked will get answered (by you through your research) when you write your business plan.

Good luck and let us know how you are making out.

You're not alone. Everybody are burn out. Wants to get out of this stress situations but we can't do anything. We just realized we 're already aging in nursing. Just wait for a few years and were ready to retire. Take a time off. Enjoy life. Or do travelling nursing to change the scenario and take a vacation every 3 months for 3 weeks. I've been in nursing for 20 years I donot know how I did it. Maybe I accepted the situations and love taking care of the sick. I laugh with the stress situations and hard work. Think positive you will not notice time pass by.
