  1. My father had successful neobladder surgery 3 years ago and is doing well. I am concerned about any long-term effects from this surgery. Has anyone else worked with or known anybody with a neobladder? Thanks much......
  2. I am exhausted with hospital nursing (18 years) and need a change in my life. I had an epiphany moment at 0200 (trying to go to sleep)..why don't I go into "private duty nursing". Maybe put an ad in the paper for anyone needing help with med/diabetic management..perhaps help with ADL's or dressing changes. Is this as simple as it sounds to me? I read on another message about needing to be bonded & insured? What would this entail? What does being bonded exactly mean. (I'm an idiot when it comes to finances, my husband takes care of that). This would be private, so I would be unable to take Medicare. (right?). I know I would have to set-up some forms for documenations of assessments and interventions, but that won't be too bad. I did try & find some info about this through the entrepeneural forums, but had no luck. So I thank you in advance, for ANY info you can enlighten me on? Take Care........
  3. Hello...this is my first posting! Lately on our rehab unit we have been initiating BID Bowel Programs (ie- bisacodyl supp p breakfast & p dinner). We have been doing this with our patients who have bowel incontinence..."to get ahead of the incontinence". I'm not real crazy about these programs. It seems like we are not giving the gut time to reabsorb water from the stool and these patients often develop loose stools. We do these programs just on our CVA patients. I would love to hear what my fellow rehab nurses say about this. Also, does anyone have a somewhat reliable bowel program for their CVA patients? I look forward to hearing from you!! Thanks........
